I was diagnosed 20 years ago with my first and only child with a EF of 12, unfortunately I haven’t recovered but my EF is now 37. I have a ICD and I’m on daily medication. New PPCM Mama’s I know you’re scared, mad, confused, hurt and some maybe guilty and rightfully so! You feel all of those feelings Mama for however long you need too but don’t let it consume you. I decided years ago not to allow this heart condition to take away anything else from me and I haven’t!

Can you elaborate a little more on how unloading the LV raises the diastolic pressure?
@DTraylor3 ай бұрын
From the way I understand it, the impella Device actively decreases the volume inside the left ventricle, decreases wall stretch and the amount of blood the lv has to pump out thereby decreasing the workload of the left ventricle. I don't think it" unloads the lv "in the Sense that a balloon pump does. I do believe that iabp and impella can be utilized at the same time.

I'm one of the first to have had this pump used on. It's the greatest gift I've ever had. I had a 100% blockage . I flat lined and was hit with the defib. After waking up in recovery I felt great and was extremely hungry. Dr was really surprised and let me eat a good size meal. My recovery was fast and I hammered the stress tests later on.

I just went through this in March. My EF was at 25%, and I had to be on life support for 2 days. I had to wear a defibrillator for a few months, but my heart as come back to 50-55% with more room to improve. Thanks for sharing. @@aishabanoo7740 if you have a Facebook account there is a survivor support group, called “Peripartum Cardiomyopathy (PPCM) Survivor Support” But to answer you, I am still on medication! There is a chance I’ll have to take it forever since everyone heals differently. But I’m on entresto, carvedilol, and spironolactone. In that Facebook support group there are all kinds of women in all different stages of healing-but I know the medication Entresto, has been a game changer for a lot of us. If you aren’t taking it now, I would check with your doctor, it’s an expensive medication though. And I encourage you to find that group on Facebook. It’s a nice support system! In March my EF was 20-25% and at my last Echo it was 50-55%. I ate under 1500 mg of sodium a day, and less than 1500 ml of water. Was strict about taking my medicines, and took fish oil as well. Now that my heart is better, I’ve started walking every day, and exercising at the gym 3x a week to strengthen up.

Hi! I just had the CP inside my left ventricle last week. I had two stints installed as well. The CP unit was pulled on the 17th after giving my heart some rest. It's a fascinating little device you created there. I have a question for you regarding the entrance area. The entrance was in my right side, groin area, your left side, and I'm also quite bruised there. There is a firm 1" x 3/4" nodule just under the skin by the insertion point. I was told to expect the bruising to fade slowly but wasn't told I would have swelling/firmness under the skin. I'm assuming, I hope correctly that this is normal and this swelling under the skin will fade as the bruises do? Thank you for your time.
