Both my grandparents were part of the Dutch resistance. My Grandfather used to spy on a V2 base and alerted the British whenever rockets were launched and my Grandmother rode a bicycle with a sten gun on her back and a Wembley revolver in her basket. The germans also once entered her home, ransacked and searched the place, she pretended to be sick and was laying in her bed (she was about 14-16 yrs old at that time) The germans said to her, "You're a good Christian girl, you wouldn't lie to us would you?" She nodded no. They asked her, "Does your father have or own a weapon or hunting rifle?" She said no. She told me that she didn't lie because she had the rifle between her legs under the blanket. She was very lucky they did not remove her from the bed otherwise I wouldnt be here today neither. Her neighbours though were not so fortunate apparently they were shot outside the house on the street. I couldn't imagine what she went through, but I wanted to share that with you. My grandmother is still alive, but my grandfather passed away a couple of years ago.

The lady who was a flower child brought a tear to my eyes. Tending a stranger’s grave for 70 years is monumental and very moving.❤ Well done Hus. Better than blowing bloody doors off!

Us Dutch will never forget all the British, Canadian, US (and other) soldiers who gave theire lives to liberate us, period. It literally is the least we can do.

The east german army actually took over the german uniform from 2WW, I won't say Nazis because a lot of the military were not in the 2WW.

The SAS wouldn't have gotten anywhere without the help of the Long Range Desert Group (LRDG), who pioneered the use of long-range, heavily armed vehicles to carry out clandestine reconnaissance, or attack missions, deep behind enemy lines in the deserts of Egypt, Libya & Tunisia during the desert campaign of 1940 to 1943. The LRDG helped transport, arm and supply the SAS during their first operations and provided them with valuable training in navigating their way across vast swaths of empty landscapes, using LRDG designed sun compasses, navigation charts, theodolites & etc. The LRDG were also the first commando unit to use surplus RAF Vickers 'K' guns and showed the SAS how to mount them to and use them on Jeeps.
