My second Great Grandfather drowned in that shipwreck. He was from Toledo Ohio. His body washed ashore in Dunkirk NY! This is awesome to see this ship! Thank you!

It looked a lot better when i was on it and yes it is a decompression dive. A very unreal shipwreck. I'm glad i did it.

The book, like this video, says very little about the Atlantic or her sinking.

Great video and thanks for showing me what not to do as well. It is a goal to work myself up this dive. I just finished a 4 day tobermory trip yest. I just received my aow and I am not ready for this yet. Two divers on my dive boat wouldnt stop talking about this. One had a freeflow on it and emptied in 3 min. Switched to bail out immed

Tobermory is a real jewel. I'll stick to the Little Tub Harbour wrecks, though.

Nice video. I think Lake Erie is absolutely fascinating. I live near Hamburg NY and am out on the water regularly with a Surfski. Not sure I want to dive tho. I'm good on the surface of the water.

I was on her years ago. I wrote a story which was published in advanced diver magazine. The dive was amazing. Water temperature was a balmy 70 degrees until the thermocline right at the wreck where it plummeted to a teeth chattering 40 degrees. It was quite an eye opener and a shock. I basically had to tea bag myself to get acclimated to the temperature.. From stem to stern, visibility was endless..

My name is John Gerken and my grandfather is the brother of Howard Gerken. Thank you very much for sharing this footage. If you have any extended coverage of your dives on this wreck, would you be willing to share it? I would LOVE to see it. This wreck has been the topic of much discussion over the decades -- in particular stories around why it sunk, why it was were it was on the lake, and how they were rescued. So I'm very interested in anything further that I can learn about it. Was the detailed site plan that you mentioned ever completed?

I'm so glad I found this footage. The Howard Gerken occupies much lore in my family. Howard was my great uncle (brother of my grandfather, John Gerken). John was also on the ship when it sank. Thanks very much for posting this!

Man I’m sorry. I’ve been diving around Georgian Bay Area for my whole life and I don’t like that you said this dive was for experienced divers only and then you go ahead and dive it yourself without taking proper precautions. Granted this was filmed a few years ago I hope you’ve educated yourself a little more on diving. Please be safe, especially out in the Georgian bay waters, there’s a reason those shipwrecks are there in the first place, our waters are unforgiving. Thank you for uploading the video, it gave many others a chance to see what the Arabian is like!

That dude sports what is knownnas a "SUPER MULLET" this type of hair style literally helps in finding more ship wrecks. the only place a SUPER MULLET can NOT assist in the shipwreck business is Lake Superior and lake mixhig The reason for this is because the MULLET (A truly magnificent creature) in general has a mind of its own, and hates the cold.a
