Man I’m sorry. I’ve been diving around Georgian Bay Area for my whole life and I don’t like that you said this dive was for experienced divers only and then you go ahead and dive it yourself without taking proper precautions. Granted this was filmed a few years ago I hope you’ve educated yourself a little more on diving. Please be safe, especially out in the Georgian bay waters, there’s a reason those shipwrecks are there in the first place, our waters are unforgiving. Thank you for uploading the video, it gave many others a chance to see what the Arabian is like!

It looked a lot better when i was on it and yes it is a decompression dive. A very unreal shipwreck. I'm glad i did it.

Great video and thanks for showing me what not to do as well. It is a goal to work myself up this dive. I just finished a 4 day tobermory trip yest. I just received my aow and I am not ready for this yet. Two divers on my dive boat wouldnt stop talking about this. One had a freeflow on it and emptied in 3 min. Switched to bail out immed

What's the problem with their diving skills?

@@taklampan650 Using hands to swim/move, stage bottles are poorly rigged and hanging all over the place, dropping the line before assessing the current, kicking the crap out of the silt (note the two divers down in the hull as they return), again, skipping the line on ascent, ascending far too quickly etc. These are just going from memory without watching it again.

@@taklampan650 Not sticking to the descent line on the way down, in spite of the "ripping" current, using hands to swim, poor buoyancy control and finning (Note two divers returning to the line near the end... kicking the silt up like crazy), choosing to ascend without the line (now with full knowledge of the current, which suggests a very uncomfortable diver) then ascending MUCH faster than they should have... And that's just going from memory. Having said that, any dive you come back from is a good one, but some of these folks looked to be way out of their comfort zone...

How deep is the wreck? Your film work is beautiful.

The Arabia is one of the most dangerous dive sites in Canada. More than a dozen overconfident or cocky divers have died on this wreck. The wreck is in deep cold open water meaning if you lose contact with the down line or wreck you can easily become separated from the wreck. This makes a carefully controlled assent nearly impossible with no fixed reference. I had the privilege of diving into this wreck on two occasions in the late 80s. We dove with single aluminum 80s on air. In both cases, we had one extra tank and reg for each buddy pair at the bottom and at 20ft. We briefed the dive and dove the brief. I'll give credit to the narrator for identifying he was losing focus due to narcosis. I have to agree with some of the comments in this post that this dive does not demonstrate the best diving skill level.

In fairness Sylvain, the most recent fatality was a health issue in a very experienced, older diver. I ran a shop in Tobermory in the early 80's and I think there were 4 or 5 fatalities on that wreck during those years. All were attributed to diver error when they failed to respond to various gear problems... reg freeze-ups and in one case, a tank slipping from it's backpack. I have done about 400 dives on Arabia (it's 3 miles from my door) and with good cold-water gear, and some experience, it's a great dive... one of my favourites.

Find it odd that the author of this video recommends it for "experience divers" yet his hand holds, and lack of following the dive plan suggest he's anything but experienced

It really isn't a hard dive, even with the current ripping hard you can always pop under the rail to rest.
