Twitching every single day for two years already. Starting after months of stress. It felt like it was starting to go away but I had a bad two weeks with a sick pet and then Twitching has gone through the roof again. I've had a hot spot on My left tricep for almost two weeks. First time I've had one last this long in one spot. I lost my fear of Twitching a long time ago so I'm not worried, it's just super annoying.

Hello, how are you now, I’ve been watching your videos. My twitching started last year with my eyelid twitching, it stay for quite a while, even now I still have it , then my rear delt started to twitch then now my elbow started to twitch too when I hold my phone bending it or when I place my elbow on a table, sometimes to the extend that it will cause moving of my thumb, I’m so scared and worry, I do went to a neuro and they check me clinically and told me I do not have weakness. Everyday I’m worried and scared, you know what I’m afraid of. Thank you for the video and I do hope you can post more or even have any programs to tackle anxiety just like what you said anxiety can be a cause to it

I've had BFS for 9 years. Im 24 now, so for me, it started very young. I just want anyone who reads this after first discovering their fasiculations that it does get better. I can be a very anxious person, so my twitches are still very much present. I also get a heap load of other symptoms such as tingles, numbness, burning sensations, and restless leg syndrome. Looking up these symptoms will only make things worse. Anxiety is your worst enemy with BFS. You can convince yourself that what you have is debilitating, but I promise you're fine. Keep living life. Your twitches are just a little quirk of yours.

I've had this happen to my both calves for about 5yrs but it didn't happen all the time, well i didn't feel it. Lately in the past year its never stopped i can feel them popping away and my calves cramp a lot when im in bed also feel really sore sometimes when ive not even done much. I'm currently seeing a Neurologist just now as I've started getting the twitching all over my body randomly, good to hear its harmless but still very annoying especially my calves they feel like I'm never off the stair master machine at the gym

Been dealing with BFS all over my body for almost a year. Got all the tests through my neurologist and they said i didn’t have anything but bfs driven by anxiety. Still sometimes I worry because it won’t stop. It hits me in waves and I have good and bad days but I just wanted to say thank you for your page it comforts me and helps me refocus. Happy to hear you are doing well!

I just think to myself I have all my limbs in tact, I have my sight, my hearing and sense and taste and I can breathe, so this isn’t really a bad thing, it does get annoying though sometimes when you try to relax and all you can feel in your body is rigid and pulsating but other than that we won’t die from it and that’s the main thing

I started twitching in my right tricep after a few days of inconsistent sleep and alcohol usage, it’s lasted on and off for about a week now. I did a google search and was promptly terrified. Hope it goes away soon.

Mine started in May in my lip- shifted to my tongue from July- Sept. now it’s in my calves, abs and feet. My doctor said I’m fine. Neurologist did strength tests, said no need for more testing if no weakness. It’s been 7 months. I have no weakness and actually at age 51, I’ve re-dedicated myself to the gym to prove to myself I’m not losing strength. It’s still so stressful and scary bec of Dr Google.

I’ve been twitching for 7 months - tongue, calves, lips etc. went to PCP and neurologist. Both took strength tests - said I’m fine and come back if any strength loss - it’s so stressful and causes so much mental suffering bec I think “ what if” Your videos help me a lot.

Same brother. Same. All these videos I see about the fear of ALS folks say, they say “well, if there no muscle change in X amount of time, you’re ok.” Then, when that’s said I go ok great, now I have to wait and see if theirs a change, so the waiting to see if theirs progression is absolutely mentally taxing.

Hey I can't empathize with the OCD or the suicidal thoughts. I'm very sorry you've been struggling with those. I cannot help with those. The only bit of wisdom I can offer for you is that anxiety and these twitches are only as debilitating as you allow. I've had twitches for 9 years. I am okay. Most of the time I do not notice them at all. When I do notice them, it's usually due to anxiety. The sleep thing is rough. I know exactly what you're talking about. You can't sleep due to the twitches, then you focus on the twitches begging for them to go away, then you get anxious because you can't sleep, and your twitches get worse. Cycle continues. I don't have any advice that I can apply to your life in particular. All I can say is that this is mostly a non issue for me now and I hope that brings you comfort. It still happens every few months or so, but that is more due to anxiety because anxiety interrupts sleep and causes twitches. What I do during these times now is remind myself that the only 2 things I know that I have are BFS and anxiety. Neither will kill me tonight. BFS will never kill me. Annoying? Sure. Won't kill me though. Distract yourself, move your legs around while you're trying to sleep so you don't feel it so much and watch something entertaining and engaging until you fall asleep without realizing it. You will be okay. I really so hope the best for you and everything you're going through.

It started for me about 3 to 4 days after recovering from COVID. I was sitting in front of my PC when I suddenly felt intense twitching in my right triceps, happening in a rhythmic, pulse-like pattern. Over the next few days, it spread everywhere: calves, thighs, then back, chest, occasionally my lip, and finally my eyelid. I've been stuck in this madness for six weeks now.

I've been experiencing the same thing for 2 years. It happened after powerlifting training. It would be nice if it was just a twitch. Because when I start running, my right ankle and calf get tight and stiff, I can't continue running. Does this happen to you too?

Thanks for this video, it relieves me so much seeing people with same syndrome that i have. My twitches started 3 days ago, it started as a twitch in both of my feet and i ignored it, thinking that it was just anxiety. Then, the morning after that, my twitches started AGAIN, that's the time i started to worry about my health (im a very hypochondriac and anxious ). I searched google about muscle twitches and when it said ALS, my world was just like boom, my anxiety went up through the roof, had a silent panic attacks, thinking that i have ALS. My twitches are now in my feet, calf, thigh, abdomen, hands, arms and face. I started lifting weights to see if i have muscle weakness (because its one lf the symptoms of ALS), asking myself if i had trouble walking, talking or speaking. My GAD also makes it worse.

I’m new to your channel and I’m so impressed with your content on BFS, as I was recently diagnosed with a relatively mild condition. I’ve had BFS for 2 months and the first month was absolutely brutal as I didn’t know what was happening with me. I started googling and went down a very very deep rabbit hole, until I saw a neurologist and he confirmed I was wrong with the sinister disease and that I have what’s called BFS. Obviously extremely relieved but now after having this condition for two months, I’m starting to really read my body and staying positive. My question to you is what type of exercise routine do you recommend as I was a soccer player and an adult league as well as weight training 2 to 3 times per week as well as jogging and long walks with my Wife. I have not lifted a weight and two months but have gone for several long walks. Does weight training exacerbate twitching? Any information that you may have gathered over the years would be extremely helpful and I really do appreciate your videos and they are extremely comforting Sincerely Gary USA

@bfsanxietysupport hello, thank you for your videos. I often watch them when I am struggling and feeling low. They help me refocus when attempting to be more positive. I’d really appreciate it if you could answer me one question please. Do your calves still twitch constantly? Both my calves and arches of my feet twitch every second of every day 24/7. All other twitches are random and sporadic with occasional hotspots. I’ve been to a neurologist and had all the usual tests and been diagnosed with BFS. I remember you saying in one of your videos that your calves always twitch but I just wondered if they still do and if so if you meant literally every single second or just occasionally. Thank you!

My twitches started about 4 years ago and I seriously thought I had ALS. 4 years on and they’ve basically completely gone. I get the odd one now and again but they’re no where near as bad. For me the best thing was accepting it’s a benign condition and ignoring them. The more you worry about them the worse they become, so stop worrying! Obviously that’s easier said than done but if you’ve had the tests done by the doctor and they say it’s BFS, you have to accept that you’re fine. I promise it will get better and that’s from someone who worried themselves sick over it. I found keeping distracted and doing things I love helped me to stop worrying.

I sometimes get minor cramping and/or fatigue in mornings after waking up, especially when then twitching is bad at night in bed. Stretching, hydrating, and keeping your spirit/mind off it helps. Usually by noon the fatigue goes away. I hate BFS. It’s not bad in that it won’t kill ya, but it’s like a nagging wife.

I have been experience constant twitching all over my body; initial diagnoses is "Benign Cramp Fasciculation Syndrome" by the neurologist since I'm likely not to die from it. I dislike the term "Benign" because is belittles the stress, anxiety, and constantly cramping pain/aches that I feel. Every time I hear someone call it "benign" I want to punch them in the face and tell them they have a "benign broken nose."

I would caution against bringing up somatic symptom disorder to your doctor if you have fasciculations or any symptoms at all. Don't bring up health anxiety, conversion disorder, hypochondriasis... They are a scarlet letter among doctors. Having one of these in your medical chart may make proper diagnosis and treatment impossible. I'd go to a good (private) clinical psychologist specializing in these disorders to talk about the mental stuff. Fasciculations have many different causes and treatments can work! Botox helped me most!

Can I ask a few more questions to you and others? My twitching/burning/tingling started after an episode of thunderclap headaches 14 months ago. I've spent the past year working on mindfulness techniques but i haven't improved. I've actually been diagnosed with fibromyalgia but I'm not sure if this is right as no UK GP I've seen has even heard of BFS and i dont have widespread pain. Do other people get migraines with aura, insomnia and some dizziness? I'm not worried about the twitching at all its the fatigue and headaches which are hard to deal with.

Love this - you do a great job calmly describing the reality of BFS. It can be consuming and cause extremely high anxiety but as you clearly state, as inconvenient as it may be, it’s not going to kill you or harm you in any way. If we focus on that rather than the worst, it helps us accept and move on. Would love to understand why people get it? I suppose since it isn’t harmful, it’s low priority in terms of research but an understanding of it could help a lot of people mentally.

You do a great job explaining in a calm matter. I was just diagnosed with BFS and like many, I was freaking out. So much I couldn’t eat or think of anything else. I acknowledge it takes some time but as you effectively described, don’t think about it and it will minimize the effect or impact it has on your life. Sounds simple but it’s not for most of us but it is absolutely the right thing to do.
