Thanks Collin. Sounds wonderful and very informative! Just wondering about your amp/mic setup here? Great quality :-)

Kind of amazed there aren't more demos of this pickup. Putting it in a partscaster flipped Esquire with a lefty bridge and a reverse CBS headstock Strat neck. Wish me luck!

New? Looks exactly like a Charvel Desolation to me, but with some Huber esthetics 🤷

Thank you for making this video! Sounds incredible and great playing! Would love to know what pickup conversion rings you used and how did you mount them under the pickguard? Did you have to do any modifications to adhere them or did you just have to install the rings like you would a normal Strat sized pickup under the pickguard? This would be my dream pickup set but I can't afford a Lari Basilio signature guitar so would need to put it in a super-strat style guitar also. Thanks!

Haven’t heard of this pedal. Sounds right up my alley. Really did sound dynamic with some sag like an amp. Good stuff.

I miss my Blackstone. It was ruined due to years of improper storage due to my being in the military. There is simply nothing like it. I remember walking into a music store mind made up to buy a certain twin pedal. That’s why I came to the store that day. The guy asks me to humor him first, fires up an Orange 2x12 and gets a cookin tone going. He switches it back to clean and switches on the Blackstone to compare. Then he switches over to the other pedal I had had my wallet ready for. Yeah I walked out with the Blackstone.

Kinman is better on single coils imo. I always do my best to put the bleed on a switch, push pull on a Strat, perhaps a mini toggle between knobs on a Tele control plate. And depending upon my pedal board for any given guitar: if I'm using a fuzz face or an old school germanium boost, especially if its always-on like I might for a Strat, the bleed is definitely switched.

I love the tones you're getting from the Hades Gates pickups. Sounds like you've listened to a lot of that first "Cry of Love" album (Audley Freed). I've had a Les Paul husk hanging around for a while, waiting on me to decide which pickups to put in it. I think I might give these a whirl. Coincidently... I saw Cry of Love open for ZZ Top in 1993 at Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport, LA.

Does the sound temporarily cut out when you engage the switch? This looks like the wah of my dreams but I read about that issue for the xw-1

Such a great walkthrough and review, Collin. I’ve had a TS9DX on my board for well over a decade. Lots of studio time and live shows with it. I agree with its being a very versatile tool. The TS9 and the + are really nice TS style OD’s. I found the HOT and TURBO modes to be too wooly and muddy for me so I would always bump the tone up quite a bit and run those modes as more of a light drive or a boost. This was my OD of choice for my Telecaster and man does it sound good!

Cool to hear that someone else uses this TS variant and loves it too!

Great demo. I didn't know this one existed as a regular production model. I just saw it as i was looking for the new Red Devil pickup. It sounds simply amazing but 29.2k output is crazy. I got the Seymour Duncan Hot Tele in my guitar and i thought it was hot 😀
@CollinLittlejohn20 күн бұрын
Yeah this a bit of a hotter pickup. And a bit more Tele bridge pickup dna than the red devil for Tele bridge pickup

I've been looking for a hotter PAF style preferably with A2 because I like the thicker looser mid push. But I noticed pretty much every candidate I looked at on the Duncan website the EQ graph shows scooped mids. I mean pretty much everything appears to have the exact same scooped EQ. Discouraged I started looking at other makers. Then I saw the hades, which advertises a "mid forward" tone Billy is known for. Sounds promising maybe this is the one. Nope, same scooped EQ. If these are really all scooped that's a bummer and some variety would be nice. If it's an error in website management/acuracy it's costing you orders because I have specifically avoided ordering any of these after seeing they are mid scooped on the website.
@CollinLittlejohn25 күн бұрын
the Hades Gates definitely are mid forward!

Real nice demo! Also, the pickups sound great! I hope the Hades Gates bridge balances better with the neck. The one thing I didn't like about the Pearly Gates set is that the bridge sounded a bit thin compared to the neck. Is the Hades Gates set potted?
@CollinLittlejohn26 күн бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! The Hades Gates definitely seem to balance really nicely when the pickups are height adjusted correctly. I believe they are wax potted

What do you think would the perfect neck pickup to pair with this? I was thinking the STR-2
@CollinLittlejohnАй бұрын
There is a custom shop bg1400 stacked Tele neck pickup that is the matched pair for this, the STR-2 would be the best non-custom order one as far as stacked Tele neck pickups go, I think you nailed it!
