Hi. I’m a new part-time reseller (57 sales) and enjoying the video. I use calculated shipping and try to measure and weigh before posting items. This is hard if I don’t have a specific box yet…ugh. Are you charging a flat rate for each of your items? If so, how do you determine the potential top cost should the item go across the country so that you don’t lose $. As I’m watching the video, I see a $29.99 remote you sold. Listing says $9.18 shipping. You said you made $7 on shipping. How can you actually ship it for $2 or is the $9.18 on the listing we see not what they paid? Shipping is one of the most confusing aspects of this for me. Thank you:)

Thank you so much for watching and the great questions! I'm on the west coast in Washington State but still sell a lot to Florida so I think my system is working. I usually set the size and weight by measuring the item and add an inch or two to each dimension. I usually go up a pound on weight unless it is a larger item and I think the box will weigh more, I'll add more to the estimate. For items under a pound, I usually go to 8oz minimum and up from there. I do add a handling fee of $1 or $2 depending on the expected item shipping cost to help cover the extra fees as I mentioned in the video. I allow offers simply because I know my shipping will be more for some buyers and want to have the opportunity to still get a sale. I do get shipping discounts as a Top Rated seller which is why it is so important to keep that rating once you get it. If I was starting over, I would limit my items to High Margin, High Quality, and High Sell Through Rate only. I jumped way in and ended up with some things that just don't sell fast enough so I'm getting much more picky on those points. Thank you again and I really hope you enjoy the channel and please send more comments and questions!

How do i set up my ebay to sell stuff from Norway?
@RealBoringFlips12 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching! It doesn't appear that eBay is offered in Norway but there are similar sites where you can sell items at auction or at fixed prices. One that I found that seems highly rated is called Finn.no. Hope that helps and thanks again for watching and sending comments!

@RealBoringFlips12 күн бұрын
@@thedark_knight231 Not directly although I do enjoy the payment notes when a drop shipper buys something from me on eBay (no invoice, it's a gift!). For now I have my main store on ebay and a backup account. When I retire at the end of 2025 I plan to add a few other platforms and might try those. It's a time issue for me right now but I do want to at least see if that would benefit me. Thank you for watching, hope you enjoy the channel!

Question in regards to how you set up your business. Did you start an LLC or Sole proprietor? Also, was that after taxes for your net profit for 2024?
@RealBoringFlips14 күн бұрын
Thank you for watching and for this great question. When I got serious about reselling in 2020, I started a registered business as a Sole Proprietor. My plan is to create an LLC next year with the idea of establishing an S Corporation after I retire (end of 25). I resell out of a large space in my home and am able to deduct about 20% of my home expenses from my reselling income. I deduct mileage from a vehicle as well. That's advantageous because some trips back to my home are counted as trips to my business location. After all of my normal deductions, I will probably pay taxes on about $5k (out of the $20k reported to IRS) of reselling income. My focus is really on minimizing my overall tax burden in retirement while still having fun reselling and now making videos on YT. I wish I had understood all the advantages of running a business out of the home (even very part time), I would have started this years ago. Thanks again!

Outstanding video, thank you so much for your help Kevin. At what point in your reselling journey did you subscribe to an ebay store and what factors helped you decide what store size to start with? Thanks for your help:)
@RealBoringFlips14 күн бұрын
Thank you! I think once I got to around 400 listings it made sense to subscribe to the store. I’m at about 700 now and would like to be at 1000 in the next few months. That gives me the sales rate I want and that I can handle with my work schedule. I have the store subscription that comes with 1000 listings. There are nice benefits with the store as well. Thanks again.

We had a great year at Real Boring Flips and putting a few improvements in place for an even better 2025. How was everyone's 2024 reselling?
@jeffreycharest909314 күн бұрын
The transparency is excellent and I appreciate that Kevin. Ive added additional shipping in the past and decided to go back to using calculated shipping. Some customers caught on. I can definitely see your point because of fees on the shipping. On occasion will still do flat rate shipping on larger items. My disc resurfacer has really helped with additional profit since I can buy less condition media and get it back to looking much better. I enjoy the refurbishing process to the best of my ability. You really had a fantastic month of sales on top of 2 jobs and being a grandpa. Hard work really does pay off as cliche as it sounds.

A ton of real boring stuff picked up in the last few weeks! Remember to ask your online estate sales company if they will have a Picker Pile on pickup day or if they have anything that didn't sell, wasn't paid for, or wasn't listed in the auction.

I admit I skeptical, but I placed the fob on the windshield and pushed the door handle. Much to my surprise, it opened the locked car! So I put the fob next to the 12v outlet and was able to shift the car and drove in reverse and forward in my driveway using the fob without the battery. I put the battery in the fob and exited the vehicle. I tried to lock the car with the fob and it wouldn't lock. I walked away hoping the vehicle would lock.... It didn't. Any suggestions on what to do now? Thanks for the tip.
@RealBoringFlips24 күн бұрын
Thanks. Does the vehicle recognize the keyfob at all with the battery installed? I actually tried two different batteries even though they were both new. In my case the car had notified us that the batteries in both keyfobs were low and I changed mine without the car near me. I changed my wife's battery when she got home and the car was nearby. That one worked fine after the new battery but mine wouldn't recognize. I found a few videos on how to do the windshield trick and just hoped it would resync my keyfob to the vehicle and it did. I think these keyfobs are really sensitive to battery voltage. Use a Duracell or Energizer instead of the cheaper brands.

Lots of sales in this video. Glad to see it. I'm learning about different items because of your excellent content here. I mainly sell media and electronics and books with a few odds and ends on occasion. Definitely in the same boat with selling something cheap to get it gone that was part of a bigger lot with less value items remaining. Usually won't list something under 3 dollars with shipping added. A sale is a sale lol. Weeding out some of my hobbies collection items as well recently. Some doubles and items I have condition upgraded. Really into CDs and cassettes and computers and ufology. Absolutely thrilled that your channel was recommended to me. We need more strong family men like yourself in the world. Nothing boring about your channel in my opinion. I have a similar calm and curious type of personality also.

Some fairly good stuff there by accident. Can't beat free money lol. Flies and mosquitoes here in WV are brutal. Actually more open to flipping board games recently thanks to you Sir. I buy replacement 2 prong and 3 prong power cords as well as replacement HDMI cables and micro USB and USB C cables in bulk to have on hand. Have my testing station as well as one for listing and shipping. I buy shipping materials in bulk and even have a backup thermal printer and postal scale if needed. I know it's overkill to have all of that stuff but it makes me feel on top of things.
@RealBoringFlipsАй бұрын
Thanks! It sounds like you are setup pretty nicely with all the needed bits. I have a bunch of small totes with all the various flavors of power cords, usb, hdmi, ac adapters, etc. I hold on to these as they come in with other bulk buys. Can never have too many of those. My VCR listings now come with all the cords plus a new blank tape and seems to add good value. Thanks again for watching!

Question on brick and mortar seasonal box store clearance and retail arbitrage. Is it something you do, or reccomend? Would it be worth buying Christmas items in a few weeks and listing them next October?
@RealBoringFlipsАй бұрын
Thanks for watching! We don't do much retail arbitrage, at least on purpose. I would love to do that regularly but the stores we have (Home Depot, Lowes, Marshalls, Ross, Costco) are limited on what we can find to flip. Seasonal is long tail for sure although my wife's Marvel costume set she just bought after Halloween sold quickly. I would focus on very low priced items if you think you'll need to hold until next year. Thanks again!

Some excellent flips once again Sir. I don't mind having long wait flips if I know I will be getting the asking price. Multiple quantity items are my bread and butter. Getting more into flipping wholesale items. It's great you have a connection for boxes. Sometimes when an item sells in a day or less you kind of scratch your head thinking if you priced under the going rate even if you trust the average selling price. Shipping for me is the least favorite part of the process especially with larger items. How you have everything set for yourself as you mentioned with a few daily sales is great. I don't do best offer or free shipping or free returns. Rarely will I combine shipping because I mostly use calculated shipping or flat rate fixed price on larger items. USPS only because the customer is paying for the shipping and it's easier instead of running around to UPS and FedEx as well. Sorry for the long winded post here. It's very much enjoyable hearing the reasoning and stories behind the items. Here's to crushing it the rest of Q4 and into 2025 Kevin.
@RealBoringFlipsАй бұрын
Thank you so much! I think I'm lucky that I have a couple of nice box/packing material sources and my post office/UPS, and Fedex are within 5 minutes. I just wish I had better thrifting sources! Since I'm all the way up in Washington State, I think MAKE OFFER has allowed me to get sales I normally wouldn't with calculated shipping. Sales have been good for me and the limited thrifting I do has been great! Thanks again for watching and here's to excellent thrifting and flipping!

When people say their sales are dead it interests me to see how they attempt to solve their issue and what they blame for lack of sales. Looking at your most expensive item, a 3d blue ray player. What makes it worth so much versus other people's at 1/3 the price. I'm not familiar with the brand.

OPPO is a bit of an odd brand. They stopped making players but they are still pretty desirable. I sold a higher end version on this one for $1750 and the buyer actually clued me in. OPPO used certain components that have much higher audio quality than other companies. Mine might be priced too high now but when I originally listed it I based it on current sold comps. I’ll need to go through all my listings regularly to check my pricing. Sometimes it goes the other way and my prices end up too low.
