How do you find this setup on hills? My driveway is gravel and very hilly with a steeper incline than most. I don't expect it to be a racecar or anything, I know the limitations, but is it capable? I'd probably need chains on the tires.

I don't understand this setup. what is the point of dropping $45000 for something that has to driven around by $60000. And how can you drive a trailer in over one ft of snow.

Ideally this would be used on dense routes, subdivisions where you may have 30 homes etc. It doesn't make sense to tow it from home to home.

This is a cool setup. After the drive is dragged clean, why do you turn off the PTO between snowblowing pushes? Also, if the driver didn't shovel you could do probably 20-30% more driveways. We have people drive separately in cars and trucks doing the shoveling. It can be any car, and can be done before or after the drive is cleared. Saves us a lot of time. We have inverted blowers on tractors and are thinking of switching to this kind of setup due to the faster transport time. But the tractor is a lot faster on the drives when it get there. Each of these would take a 80" tractor inverted blower about 60 seconds. Thank you for sharing how you run this setup. Do you have many breakdowns with the Daniels box?

The plastic part you talked about that broke is called a scraper blade. They run about $30 at the big box stores. 10 minutes to replace them. But I totally agree with how annoying it is that the blade catches on any segmentation lines that you may have in your driveway or sidewalk. There is a solution though. There are a lot of after-market "skids" that can easily be mounted onto your machine which raise up the front end of the machine just enough so that the blade doesn't nosedive down into every crack it runs over. I own the newer model EGO SNT2025 Auger-Assisted drive. It's the same basic design but the auger is designed to propel the unit forward, giving you at least a small level of relief from having to push the unit. However, this power-assist feature is rendered virtually useless by the design flaw of the scraper blade issue. This is because, in order to engage the auger assist, you need to lift up lightly on the handle grip bar, which engages the auger in greater contact with the pavement. Unfortunately, in doing so, you simultaneously exacerbate the issue with the nose-diving scraper blade. I haven't yet installed any after-market skids on mine, but I've greatly decreased the scraper blade problem by pushing the unit a little more carefully and slower. It's very annoying. I'm gathering this is a pretty common problem though with various single-stage snow blowers, as there are a lot of "skid" solutions available to resolve the issue. Other than that though, the EGO blower is pretty good, and beats the heck out of monkeying with a gas-powered unit, in my opinion.

Thanks for the video. How does the snowblower do at the end of the driveways where the curb is.? Does it float over it or do you have to lift the blower up and then set it back down at the end? For the heavy snows does it help going through the snow slower so it doesn’t push a pile next to the garage?

Neither one was clearing the driveway at first. I don't see this as a fair comparison at all. I have never seen anyone run snowblowers the way this was done. Who does that stuff while cleaning a driveway. It was clearly a race not a demonstration as to which does the better job. Sorry not a good video for anything.

Do you have any experience or preference as to r auger type (steel vs rubber) on stamped concrete or composite decking? I see where the rubber version would be safer, but the steel should not contact at all correct? Reason I lean toward steel is we have a metal roof and snow slides get frozen so the metal auger should chew them better.

Something else very few modern single stage snow blowers do not have engine power going to the wheels I believe the Toro snowmaster series is the only turn single stage snow blower with engine power at the wheels on the market today. Prior to the 1980s that was a very common setup for single-stage snowblowers. Also in a single stage is very useful when there's not as thick enough layer of snow for two-stage machine.

Hello Great Video. We have the exact same snowblower setup. Our gearbox under the RTV that gives power to the snowblower makes a load rattling noise when the engine is at idle and not moving, without the PTO engage. The rattle goes away when you engage the PTO for the snowblower. Does or did your machine make any strange noise like this. We think it is coming from the PTO clutch when it is not engaged. It is quite loud.

So Ego’s Peak Power is dead even with the baby 99cc Toro gas blower. Thank you for saving me from making the mistake of buying a Ego single stage blower as I was looking to replace my 15 year old HS520 Honda that would easily handle that snow. I only needed to replace that because I gas it to my Dad but it still works perfectly. I bought a Honda HS720 instead.

The first year I did not have the plow. I sent one guy out in the kubota. He cleared 33 properties by himself shoveling side sidewalks. It took him on average about 10 hours. The second year we added the plow and 4 properties. He cleared 37 properties by himself in 8 hours on average. Not having to use a snowblower for the snow infront of the garage is what made the difference.

How do you find the unit drives through snow that hasn’t been cleared by the city on roads yet? I’m thinking about getting one of these for snow removal this season, and want to be able to drive it from house to house in areas where I have good route density, but don’t want it to be a painstakingly slow experience when I need it to go through uncleared snow on the roads. Any insight is appreciated!

Going through snow is not a problem at all. The machine is very heavy and gets good traction. The biggest problem with it is hills. Even the slightest incline it will start to slow down. On steep hills you will go from 25mph on flat ground to 12-14mph. Even though 12mph is decent it feels incredibly slow when you drop from 25mph.

@@fullaffectfitness5070 our biggest snow I used it in was 16in. Had no problem driving but Had to go really slow with the snowblower. It does not have near the snowblower power of a tractor. The snowblower works good but the throwing distance drops pretty significantly unless you slow way down in heavy snows.
