It takes a brilliant mind to draw from those that came before, in this case Tata Güines, and to leave behind something so perfect and alive.

To me what is even more impressive than how technically brilliant and musical he was, it is that he was doing stuff like this in the late 1950's!!!!!!!!! On conga drums! Thank you for sharing all of this........I was late in discovering Tata Guines .

I love this song. I play the vibes here in the Bay Area and had a Cal Tjader Tribute group in the 1990s called Mamborama. What a great group I am watching! You folks are kickin this Bill Fitch classic! Is that the same Anthony Carrillo who played bongo with Eddie Palmieri next to Richie Flores? If so, his brother Ito Carrillo (sp?) once sat in with Mamborama on bongos and blew damn the walls down. We were totally thrilled.

Wow! Really nice work. I play the Vibes and had a Cal Tjader type "cover band" in the 1990s called Mamborama, and this song is one of the "Holy Grails," of his repertoire, this masterpiece of Bill Fitch's - at least for me. I have transcribed most of Cal's work, and have even had the opportunity to play with many Cal's original bandmates over the years. I have probably all of the Fantasy colored vinyl, including "Cal Tjader plays Afro- Cuban" on 10" purple vinyl! I have Cal Tjader, Willie Bobo, and Mongo Santamaria's autograph. You have re-inspired me to write this one out -all the parts- all the solos. - Michael Golds, California Jazz Conservatory, Berkeley, CA

Great job. Such a great flowing solo. So nice to hear that old school way of playing where soul not flash was the way of expression. I am sure that was a lot of work to transcribe. Thank you for doing that .
