Im buying a set of these tomorrow. One has a bad squawker for sure. Hopefully nothing else is wrong, I'm a super novice and these are my first pieces. I bought a sansui 2000a tonight, for 150.00. Next week I get my denon dp 1800 f4om japan....... I am truly hoping for a total vintage sound. Will I get it?

I run my CS5,s with a 200 watt tube amp and a 200 watt sub. I paid $75 new off Amazon. I have the same speaker stands

Another thing is that it increases the bass output when the volume is increased, even though I know that my sound source does not do anything like that. My older class H amplifier did not do anything like that and also had deeper bass around 15-20Hz. I can recommend this amplifier as a Pa amplifier but definitely not Hifi.
@KevinRusnak-ig8gl17 күн бұрын
It has a good and neutral sound but the lowest bass is missing. It plays at full power from approximately 40Hz and 30hz -3db. I know that many speakers cannot produce such a frequency, but I think that the amplifier should be able to handle it if a subwoofer is used. But for the price of 190 euros it is ok

Looking forward to this series. I have had mine for like 20 years as a 7.1 set for 60 bucks and I refuse to upgrade them, lol. Foam was trashed long time ago. Thinking of upgrading the setup with Dayton woofers, along with upgrading the cabinets and stumbled on this.

My only gripe with these is that mine don't have any way to mount to a speaker stand without drilling into the actual wood. These are small enough they should have assumed many people would mount them on speaker stands to put them at ear level, and should have had threaded mounting points for that purpose (both bottom and rear).

They look great, a simple finish for your next project especially if you go to the trouble to use a figured, species, that will give real depth. A simple cote of Walrus oil followed by a simple hand wax. Stunning to look at and so easy to repair.

I am using these BICs for my 7.1 front height speakers and read surrounds. Sound great. (with a Denon 3800h) and look brand new as the day I bought them.

I've watched a few of those reviews, which are completely useless in my view since KZbin add compression and our own system color the sound. But I watched a few because I wanted to hear the Sony's. And everytime, the guys used those weird tracks, very tasteless music with no FUCKING VOCALS!!!!! Vocals are the point of reference. You call yourselves audiophiles? What good is it to spend money and want fidelity if all you listen to is crap?

You may not hear music above 20k, but you can hear air and space which create more ambience.

Thank you. I bought the Pyle 4" cubes as satellites and their high frequencies are very bad. I was considering these instead but thanks to your review I won't use them either. Now looking into Cambridge Audio Minx Min 12 or Minx Min 22.

Lol at this comparison. Yout blocking a percent of the sound by having them behind the a130. Dufferent height stands. Those shelves no good behind either...your blocking and redirecting the sound. Those little foam rounds. Use them in the tweeter waveguude. U can accent midbass by taking 60hz and below and dropping it a few db...i agree tho the little driver is a sore spot on a good speaker. I run these on 6 inch risers ontop of dual 12 inch heco subs subs elevated 12 inches off the floor. How high the 5.25 woofer is in relation to your ears makes a big difference in that 150 to 300 hz drop these have ...move your head to different heights when listening in your spot...to figure out how hogh to place the speaker. All ports plugged sealed. Subs crossed over at 90hz . Big sound for the price once dialed in its like having a standmound speaker with a 12 inch woofer...the only one i know thats affordable is the Cerwin vega...and this setup blows that away. That a130 is a great speaker tho. To me the lookof the 530 is worth the little extra they sold for on sale.

The difference is night and day. The JBL are more fun, more rithmyc. With s5 you have that feeling for cheap speaker, it's duller and flat.

I have a question: I have a pioneer turntable with only one male rca socket and it is connected to active speakers, which work both bluetooth and with rca cable: with bluetooth at maximum volume they are loud but with rca not so much; do you think that with a preamplifier like that I will have a higher volume?
@potsy99732 ай бұрын
For subs they are real winners, with more than enough to power most subs in bridged so I have a couple. The x-over gets the job done but you can do better with a better separate. Doing so it also boosted output voltage. That said using it to power full range speakers with internal passive x overs doesn't sound good to me at all. Its harsh and doesn't come nowhere near a good class A or A/B amp for sq. PA speakers are a better match. It lit my 15" JBL monitors like a champ. In a house I didn't get near its limits. Half gain was more than enough to be loud af and keep a party thumping hard.

I ran across this restoration video by accident, very impressive job. I preformed a similar restoration on a set of ESS amt-1 (air motion transformers) speakers 20+ years ago and still have them. Still preform like new. Driving them with a set of quad II forty's( KT-88 finals). Audio Research SP-11 preamp.🎼🎵🎶🎺🎻🎷

I have had this for 2years now, downside about this is that it has 15Volt AC output not DC, and the supplied power adapter runs hot, so after a few years the plastic cover will break if you move it. So finding replacement is very hard. Passthrough connection works only from rca to rca or balanced to balanced, not to rca to balanced. Sound quality is superb and really has huge amount of power to run any headphone.
