I really like those earpads on them. They look like after market dekoni hybrids. For low ohm headphones they're pretty solid, guess it just depends on what you're looking for.

I finally orders some new cables after 6 months with mine :D They never broke or anything, but I was just done with them lol. Sundaras are really nice, I can wear them all day and enjoy their smooth sound. Some people say they are harsh to listen to, guess everyone's ears are different haha xD

Can you check the headband on the Sundaras? Does it make a creaking sound like it's loose when you shake them a bit. Mine makes a sound. Check the plastic part on the adjustment.

They replaced my DT 1990 because they sounded much more "correct" to my ears. With the Oratory1990 setting they are even better. My criticism besides the cable is the head band. If I wear them for 2-3 hours they start to be uncomfrotable, but that is prolly down to head shape and sensitivities. Besides that I dont think you can get much better headphones for sub 500.

You could try the mic cable from the Meze 99 if you can find one. www.head-fi.org/threads/microphone-cable-options-for-hifiman-sundara.947492/
