If you guys have to shower at your parent's house, maybe bring a bucket of your own products over and just leave it there? Saves lugging! Also, maybe address the frozen pipes thing. I live in Upstate NY, near the Canadian border, and my basement is warm and freezer free. My pipes gave never frozen, and I've here for over 30 years.
