How about small old school moving coil meters mechanism? Small one should be pretty nimble and low inertia.

Would be cool to make them triangles and have the magnet connectors at an angle to the pc plane, so you can make 3d shapes.

Really nice and fun project! To improve the speed you need to use coils and magnets to move the mirrors. Better is to use just one mirror. I believe the same method is used in a laser projection unit that can draw shapes on a wall.

So the ESP32 C and S series support VGA output, but you need to have the external resistor support? How can does designing with Aisler compare with KiCad?

So the ULP runs all the time, not just when the main processor sleeps? Does the built-in ESP32's JTAG debugger work for the ULP as well? Is there a IDF IDE way of compiling, debugging/flashing.. or does one have to use the Arduino IDE (duff2013 / ulptool , jasonful / lcc) ? BTW, Interesting how the official block diagram of the ESP32 C3 doesn't list the ULP block!

Bambu labs is stealing from the 3D printer community, do not endorse them in any way. They have have stolen code from projects like Klipper. They steal libre software and then release it under a closed source license.

How much additional time/knowhow would it take to create a 16x16 array of the 8x8 magnet enclosures with a display driver that I could output image/video from a laptop? I love the magnetic nature of these, and could see making a frame that they could sit in (also magnetised) and be used for lots of other things?

You think maybe one of the old school LCD screens that darken when energized could give a wider range of greys? Limit the specific pixel brightness on demand?

I'm thinking. How hard is it to attenuate the laser using a VGA connector? And just spin the mirrors at a constant speed, synchronized using the blanking intervals. Imagine you set this thing up as a monitor on your pc, how cool is that. Remove the screen, and you have a laser projector.
