Great video, I just tried to fit a new cell (PS-832) to my Turbo that has been in storage for years and I think I accidently connected the polarity the wrong way round! something popped flashed and smoked... Looks like a black capacitor? next to the copper coil has blown, it's about half an inch long, could it be a thermal cut off capacitor? I really want and try and fix this, and have no idea of what the equivalent component would be, any help would be wonderful...

This was one of the best from ATG/Quantum after ATG departed from Metz. The ATG Gold 60CT-4r was/still the world's powerful flash. Both of these professional products are still working today. The issue that one may run would be frayed & worn out cable. And those cables & cap are no longer available. Anyone knows where one can buy a battery cable (external battery) for ATG Gold 76MZ-5r & Metz 76MZ-5 flashes?

For the 2nd part on removing the battery, how did you remove the computer first if the cables are attached to the batter? Did you just pull hard enough?

Once the screws were out I think all I did was turn it upside down to shake it a bit to loosen it coming out of the casing. The cables are not that tight as I recall but it has been some time,..

Thanks a lot James! One question; On the second battery, how did you get out the circuit board assemblage without busting up the wires or breaking contacts? Was it easy to just pull out whole?
@jameslyons3306
@jameslyons3306 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was easy, problem was not knowing why/what was holding it up when you were trying to take it apart so until I realized the wires and the connection as well as HOW they were connected I was reluctant to just yank, if you know what I mean.

I have a coolcamp and would like to add that cargo rack to the tongue of my trailer. I purchased one but it would require welding a center piece to bolt things together. This one looks like it would go right onto the trailer, very easily, without welding. Do you have a link where I can purchase this?

Thanks for the video content! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you ever tried - Lammywalness Trendy Trade Guide (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a great one off product for learning how to recondition batteries at home minus the hard work. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my BF after many years got amazing results with it.

yeah, somebody put some vhb tape (not glue) inside this unit in the vidya. i just popped mine out with minimal working of the front edges. it shouldn't require all that. the last person that swapped that battery out made a mess of it. but good job at extracting it.

How about not using any adhesive at all, wouldn't the screws help maintain the stability of the assembly? I figure the manufacturers used that tough glue to discourage attempts at DIY, but maybe I'm wrong.

How did you tie that into the 110 outlets that came with the runaway?
@jameslyons3306
@jameslyons3306 5 жыл бұрын
They are not. The dc/ac convertor has outlets on the side that I use to plug in the air conditioner with other outlets avail. Most of the lighting is battery or reached with extension cord. This system I planned for was mainly to use just the air conditioner OR the accessories ie., lights,laptop, etc. I was in no way attempting to make the whole setup similar to the big rigs. More concerned with the ability to go boondocking.

James Lyons Thanks. I want to put in a 100w panel but I want to tie everything together with the outlets that came in it and if I go to a campground plug in and charge the batteries. I’ve been trying to figure out how to do the with the batteries inside.
@jameslyons3306

@@heatherm8261 I had thought as much by your initial question and you are entering into a complicated area. Some research into what it takes for HOME owners to do just that might reveal some of the complications. You are asking to use TWO different systems and though not at the same time to share some of the same lines. Therein lines the complications. Can be done and is done on big rigs. Not sure how you could do that on a teardrop style rig and keep it small?!? One of the key issues on my rig alone was concern on how many batteries, where to store and of course on a teardrop- the added WEIGHT of the batteries.

I will assume you are asking about the camper and not the panels, ok. And YES they do. We've had our camper in 19* weather over on the panhandle our first January and we ran the little ceramic heaters they sell for $20 or so with just the wife and I in there. You will have humidity problem but a small humidifier (like you use in a closet)will also take care of that- this is from your breath and body heat I'm guessing. Just like in your car the windows/walls tend to sweat for lack of a better term. Hope this answers your question. James, The process of removing the old battery is easier if you use the correct procedure. First off you are using the WRONG tool, don't use the thick chisel, all you need is a long thin 3/4" wide putty knife (long enough to reach the bottom of the case), you don't want or need to pry the battery away from the side, all you need to do is SLIDE the putty knife straight down between the battery and inside of the case to separate the double-sided adhesive tape (it's not glue), between the battery and the case. Another trick is to use a heat gun on the outside of the case to warm up the double-sided tape, which will make it easier to slide the putty knife down inside causing the tape to pull off the battery, and heat the bottom so you can pull the battery out easier. I have 8 of these Turbo batteries and have replaced ALL the internal batteries many times.

Thx for video, as this is what I've been considering with 2 panels of 100watts each. How are you going to bring the wiring from battery box into controller panel inside? Through the floor? I would hate to drill any holes in roof or sides. How are you going to get the wiring from the panels on the roof to controller & batters? Some sort of conduit? Also, the connections on the panels tend to be those intended for a permanent connection. Did you find one that will permit an easy disconnect? Thx.

@jameslyons3306
@jameslyons3306 6 жыл бұрын
Hi nine, The battery is the heaviest item if you speak about the solar. Panels are very light and then the two electronic components are medium sized/weight. Just looked at receipt and states 42lbs. (renogy) which would be panels/cables/MPPT. Battery of choice was a deep cell VMax @ 99lbs. (I want one more for boondocking). Inverter was approx. 6.0 lbs. At a rally last week in Ocala I spoke with the trailer company and he said on the newer Rangerunners I'd be ok adding the second battery( tongue weight was the concern). So, in my mind I'll be good to go. If you are speaking about the chuck box weight approx. 20-25 lbs. Hope this helps. Ask more if you need. 890lbs if you mean the trailer- runawaycampers.com/models-prices
