Totally agree with you. The 250s just don't feel nimble in the hand like the 180s or indeed 250 cobras. And for those rare times where you need to deal with larger fasteners, the 300 are probably a better option.

Good afternoon from the Great State of Texas. What kind of work do you do? Did I miss screwdrivers and hammers?
@EngineersPerspective7016 күн бұрын
Hello from the great white North Dakota. I’m a process engineer in the oil industry but my hobby is at this point diy projects on my house. Very near completing the addition of a 3rd bathroom. I have that Klein multidriver and have since added a 1/4” flathead as a beater. I slip a hammer through one of the two big d-rings on top of the bag near the handle connections but didn’t have one in the video. Cheers!
@JohnSmith-ws7fq9 күн бұрын
Somebody has probably mentioned this already, but that is the old version of the 180s. The new version is slightly lighter, jaws opens slightly wider and it has the laser engraved markings. Apparently Knipex updated the line back in 2018, but kept the same model numbers.

Where did you purchase the paste? Why did you choose 3 micro grit? Why did you choose oil based paste?
@EngineersPerspective7019 күн бұрын
1) Gritomatic 2) It was the only oil based stropping compound I had on hand 3) Oil based so it could be solubilized by the WD-40. Otherwise it would not mix with water based. I will add that it would be best to use something other than CBN and a smaller grit like 1micron. Cheers

@EngineersPerspective7019 күн бұрын
It’s a sharpening system Spyderco makes. Very easy to get razor sharp edges but not adjustable angle and slow cutting abrasives. Plus it’s really designed to do a micro bevel which may or may not be your desired edge. Not alot of people mention the Neo 800, but the few that do seem to speak very highly of it. Would you say it has the best feedback in the mid grits youve tried? Also would you put its coarsness around a true 800? So for example between the naniwa 400 (often said to be closer to 600) and naniwa 800 (often said to be closer to 1200).

SP 1K real grit is around 700, it's between a medium-coarse stone (300-600 grit) and medium stone (800-2K grit), coarse enough for medium-coarse stone, and fine enough for a medium stone. Do you think it can be used to jump to NP/Chosera 3K? another candidate is King Neo 800. But i like the SnG and portability of SP 1K. But still the King Neo 800 is a great stone. In general, can SP 1K and King Neo 800 be used for setting up bevel on dull knife and hard steel? so i don't need an extra medium-coarse stone.
@EngineersPerspective70126 күн бұрын
The king neo will be the better jump up to the Chosera 3K if you’re looking for a nicer edge finish. Overall the final edge performance seems to be very similar jumping up from either though The kind neo cuts a lot faster and leaves a much more even, hazy finish due to how much slurry it produces. Will require more flattening than the SP of course. The SP will cut hard steels too but slower and is more of a true splash and go vs. the neo needs water to be added periodically (not soaked though). It leaves a coarser finish and has more random deep scratches I feel. I find burr management easier on the Shapton so I tend to use it more if it’s the first stone in a 2 stone progression. If I’m doing 3 then I can do better burr management on the 3K before going to a 5-8K for example.

I"m about to buy this drill for 100 w/ 2ah and charger (have a few other tools) I think you might have hindered it's performance on the concrete floor a bit, as it looks like your arm was at more of an angle which means you probably had a bit more downward force on the other drill. Either way, thanks for the review!
@EngineersPerspective70127 күн бұрын
It’s a great buy! Definitely recommend trying to get your hands on the 5.0 or 6.0 battery also if you don’t have a big 18V drill alternative. Maybe I hindered the drill in concrete but the point is that it’s notably slower than the lightest duty SDS rotary hammer. But still works if needed

Cruwear is great, my favorite steel. Magnacut, too. M4 is about as low as I like to go on the toughness scale though because my knives go to my construction job. First tried bringing a 940 in s90v to work and I was fixing the edge every night. Everything I cut made it look almost serrated. Was eventually happy with the wear on my edges once I went cruwear/magnacut. The trick for me was finding how tough I needed my steel while keeping some edge retention, as in not buy a soft doodoo knife. I have a little k390 and like how clean the edge is but I only use it for lighter stuff at home. It's almost as tough as m4 but honestly I kind of worry about chipping or snapping either. My k390 dragonfly feels particularly delicate when I polish it up, so thin and sharp. It's razor-like. Understand the feeling of still enjoying knives and knife content while being happy with your permanent ones. I ended up with an ad20, native 5, combat troodon and a wilmont persian fighter. Stuff like manix 2, mordax and ritter are honorable mentions.
@deadvikingtrollsАй бұрын
Forgot to mention rex 45. It's good but outclassed by several others. K390 for instance beats it in all areas only they're equally corrosion resistant. It's a common favorite among steel nerds to this day, must have had a really good run.

The torque specs are completely different between speed 1 & 2. How can you say it doesn’t matter?
@EngineersPerspective701Ай бұрын
Fair question. But the torque requires to overcome the clutch at each setting doesn’t change with speed, mostly. It slips when it comes against a certain amount of resistance regardless of your rotational speed. So no matter what you can drive large fasteners while using the clutch.

What sort of drill size would be equivalent in metric (millimetre) to drill this hole? At a local store, we only have 3/16, 5/32 and wanted your opinion as to what is equivalent in millimeter for an SDS plus drill bit. Sorry, it is confusing for those of us who live in New Zealand to deal with imperial units.
@EngineersPerspective701Ай бұрын
What size do your tapcon screws come in? A 1/4” tapcon takes a 3/16” pilot hole. The 3/8” tapcons take the 5/32” pilot hole. In metric 3/16”=4.8mm and 5/32”=4mm.
