First of all, the M12 2.5 and 5.0 high output batteries are really necessary for the impact and hammer drill in my opinion. If those don't get you there, the M18 fuel hammer drill clutch will, not to mention it's not that big. I would like to get myself the installation driver for more control, but I'm not sure I need a 6th Milwaukee drill yet lol

You definitely need it! I like having the option of the 5.0 HO batteries but for them to be required on what are supposed to be compact tools just seems silly. The 2.5 I think really fills a niche of the small battery form factor that lets a guy cover a really wide range of tasks. But for sure sometimes the big batteries are a go to for bigger jobs.

Huh, it didn’t occur to me that the clutch wouldn’t work on longer screws. What about the m12 fuel surge? If it struggles like this one, the m18 fuel surge looks like it has great power and control, while still being fairly small and quiet.
@EngineersPerspective701 Жыл бұрын
The clutch is in regard to the drills. The 18v tools don’t struggle like the 12v do

@@EngineersPerspective701 No clutch, but the hydraulic impacts seem to have better control than normal impacts.

Funny you mention it because I noticed the same thing installing a fence when I first tried this latest gen impact this recent holiday season. I ended up selling the m12 kit. But I recently came across the surge for cheap and I only utilize high output 2.5’s, high output 5.0’s, XC 4 and XC6. I basically decided to sell off any other CP pack for this reason. At half bar, the tool struggles a lot more than wish 4 bars. The high output does help a bit but for longer fasteners I straight up grab my XDT19 Makita 18v and zip them out plenty fast while maintaining a very compact size

The surge is just really nice to have anyway! It’s my daily driver for house repairs and small tasks. Big projects get the 18V though
@ChrisBranleh Жыл бұрын
@@EngineersPerspective701 agreed. Although I believe there is a lot of hype around some brands, the surge is one of the few hydraulic 12v impacts so that’s a win. The ergonomics are slightly different too compared to the gen 3? 12v impact driver with the tri led. It’s very subtle but I noticed it with my medium/large hands after getting used to the slide pack style 18v tools.

Lol, yeah it’s pretty bad. I’ll have to do these with more editing to get around that

@@EngineersPerspective701 nah definitely not horrible just thought my volume got turned down or something until it happened every time you used the drill lol just your camera compensating the increase in volume most likely.

Can’t compare at 12v to 20v that’s like comparing a Honda to Bentley
@EngineersPerspective701 Жыл бұрын
Agree and disagree. Depends on your specific situation that has you ending up with one or the other. If you have both in your truck and both get brought onto a job site then it’s a valid comparison. If a person can get 90% of their work done with 12V so they leave the 18V in the van or workshop then there is no comparison. You’ll get out the 18V when it’s needed but roll with the 12V most times. The point of the conversation is to help someone do the math for choosing between the size/weight convenience of 12V vs. power of 18V.

I like my m12 but man it’s loud
@EngineersPerspective701 Жыл бұрын
As loud as the next impact driver. I end up using my m12 surge 90% of the time because of that though. Just so much nicer for me and whoever is around!

Nice video. Check out some videos on other channels comparing the 2.0ah battery against the HO 2.5ah battery with the same Gen 3 impact driver and you’re talking about a significant increase in performance. That way you don’t have to throw on a larger, heavier battery and won’t be sacrificing performance at the same time. Now is the time to get the HO 2.5ah battery with the holidays. There are many sales right now including these HO batteries for free with the purchase of an M12 kit. Something to think about.

I actually just got a 2.5HO in the orbital sander kit. Haven't used it much but will no doubt add to collection of videos out there once I have some time behind it

Do they sell the 2.5HO batteries for Dewalt drivers?
@EngineersPerspective701 Жыл бұрын
@@arturv83 dewalt doesn’t sell any HO batteries for their 12V tools. For their 20V max they have powerstack, flexvolt, their compact batteries and anything above 5Ah is HO.
