So bruh, what’s your real real reason to choose UBC and U of T?
@EclecticPerson

UofT properly has the highest ranking, overall. But in the U.S. and Europe, McGill still has comparable name recognition as the "Harvard of Canada", though clearly UofT is ranked higher by "people who know" (e.g., HR departments and ranking organizations). UBC is now firmly in the mix of the "top 3" large Canadian universities (with UofT and McGill). Indeed, UBC now has a better overall reputation than McGill, in most contexts, and among most observers (both domestically and internationally), than McGill. Queen's and Western are known specifically as having the two best undergraduate business schools (Commerce at Queen's, HBA at Western) for future employment on Bay Street (Toronto) or Wall Street (NYC). They are in a class by themselves in this regard. UofT is considered to have the best MBA program, just as UofT also has the best law school, and medical school too. But, of course, those are not undergraduate programs. Waterloo is known for its exceptional Computer Science department, but Waterloo is not so highly regarded outside of CS. Given these various factors, it's a bit simplistic to rank the different schools as you've done, since, for CS, Waterloo is the best (probably tied with UofT). And for undergraduate business, Queen's and Western are the two best.

Hi everyone, I’m a 21-year-old high school dropout who is eager to start a university program in Computer Science at the University of Toronto. I know that I need to meet certain prerequisites, specifically in precalculus, and I’m looking for advice on how to navigate this as a mature student. Here’s a bit about my situation: Current Status: I’m a high school dropout, but I’m highly motivated and committed to pursuing a career in Computer Science. Prerequisites: I understand that I need to have a solid foundation in precalculus before I can start the program. I’ve been self-studying and using resources like Khan Academy, but I’m not sure if this will be sufficient. Getting Into University: I’m wondering about the best approach to meet these requirements and eventually apply to a CS program. Do mature students typically have different pathways or additional resources available? I would really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or tips on how to make this transition smoothly. Specifically, I’m interested in: How to Demonstrate My Precalculus Proficiency: Will self-studying and passing tests be enough, or are there formal qualifications I need to present? Application Tips: Are there specific steps I should follow as a mature student applying to the CS program at the University of Toronto? Support and Resources: Are there programs or resources tailored for mature students at the University of Toronto or elsewhere that I should consider? Thanks in advance for your help!

loved the video but please also consider the other person's rankings😭 watching her opinions and rankings constantly getting overlooked and overridden is kinda annoying especially because she had some great points. I don't even go to UBC/western (I'm a McGill student) and even I believe UBC is above Waterloo on S tier and western on A tier given that it excels in multiple programs (pre med, pre law, business, cs, etc due to the dual major aspect of Ivey).

@lunawense6288
@lunawense6288 7 ай бұрын
They all do. But if you have to ask you're probably not the kind of very high level candidate they expect. No disrespect it's just that an international scholarship to a high ranking university is an extreme competition where applicants go in very well researched and informed before they apply. For most of those applications there are only a handful of scholarships vs the thousands to tens of thousands of applicants.
