Hi big Lou just a couple things I'd like to say on the previous video I believe the pocket screws should be going inward from the outside. On the supports for the wings instead of having the bolt go vertical for adjusting the wings cut a slot in that vertical piece of plywood using t nut or threaded insert with hand knob tightening screw so you can adjust up and down instead of having to turn that bolt.

Thanks so much ... glad you were able to take some tips away from this!!

Nice little projects. Two tips to add. The blind nut can easily be placed inside and pulled through with that long bolt, a nut and washer. Jamb the nut against the washer on the outside and hold the bolt. Tighten the nut to seat the blind nut. #2 the chances you will ever need to raise and lower your camera mount are small. The bolt will scar the pipe and you can drill a hole in the pipe to let the bolt pass through. Just two cents. Great job.
@BigLousWorkshop2 ай бұрын
Thanks Cuz... I appreciate your input as always!! I thought about doing a permanent mount, but when it comes to camera position I never want to eliminate options that I may want to make use of down the road, and even if the pipe gets scarred that wont matter to me as long as it still holds position!!

*This is an instruction video on what not to do to make a burn barrel, in fact is laughable. I use that same high thermal paint on my char-griller exterior walls and the attached side firebox and it barely keeps up with that temp,. This brings to to my next point, why paint a burn barrel in the first place? That is so incredibly stupid let alone your 2 single air intake holes. UGH......Learn to make a real burn barrel from others and not this joker.* 🤣🖕

I thank you for such an insightful and kind comment that will feed the algorithm and help my channel grow!! And since you asked, I have 5 air holes, I just did not film all of them. I subscribe to a lot of woodworking channels but the YT algorithm still has a way of burying many of them so I figured yours was one of them. But I'm glad that YT decided to bring this video up in my feed. Great to see you're back (even though I didn't know you were gone, so to speak). I just turned 65. We got our first grandchild 3 years ago. Our health has been a bit of a focus for us the last few years because we want to be around for our granddaughter as long as we can. My wife and I are both type 2 diabetics with a few other issues sprinkled in. I was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer (having surgery in a couple of weeks). The point is, your health is so incredibly important. It's great to see that you're all in on getting healthy. To be honest, the first video I saw from your channel, I was a bit concerned about your weight. This was probably 2-3 years ago. When you said you were approaching 500 lbs, I was like woah! And then you said "Yeah, that's a lot", as if we were responding to my reaction. I got a chuckle out of that. Speaking of chuckles, I recall a comedian making a comment about the old "life is short" addage. Life is the longest thing you can do. Thanks for the update and I'll be on the lookout for new videos.
@BigLousWorkshop2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the comment and sharing your story, I hope all goes well with your surgery!! I think the quote about life being the longest thing we do has been used by so many people over the years that it's true origin has been lost to time!! Kind of like the famous Mark Twain quote about "a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting its shoes on” There's no evidence he actually said that, but every one attributes it to him!!!

Hey Lou, long time no talk (Z from BAC). I wondered what happened to you. I know we had a falling out on the book of faces, but I'm glad to see you're doing better. I think life's been rough for a lot of people the last few years, so you aren't alone. I also had a major health scare last year that lasted a year. I dropped down to 149lbs and I'm 5' 11". Anyways, glad you're back. Ready to see what you have in store for your subscribers. I would love to get into wood working, but have had very little guidance from experienced wood workers. I recently inherited a bunch of different saws and sanders from my Uncle Jack. (Died from dementia unfortunately) Good luck, man. Hope your channel grows greatly.

I watched till the end as well. Lou, our journey is similar in many ways. I lost my dad to cancer in 1978, and it was two years later that the grief truly hit me like a ton of bricks. Mom had it really rough and in 1989, she passed from cancer as well. By 24, I was essentially an adult orphan. I had joined the Army by then and it kept me going, but once I was out, the pounds stacked on because guess what? I, too, handle grief and stress with food. It didn't help that I was unemployed with a wife and two kids for nine months after leaving the Army. Fast forward to today and I'm 60y/o and still struggling. So my message to others is don't take as long as I have to make changes. Proud of you, Lou. Keep rocking it!

One of my favorite comedies is City Slickers, there's a scene in that movie where two of the friends are trying to comfort the third after his life fell apart, and Billy Crystal says to Daniel Stern that his life is like when they were kids and the ball went over the fence and they'd all yell "DO OVER!!!" and now he has a clean slate!!... I've been thinking about that scene a lot recently!!! Thanks so much for the support

@BigLousWorkshop2 ай бұрын
This is the same comment I just replied to you with on my IG post... not sure which one you'll see first, thanks for the question... "it's hard to accurately say since both the door and the opener were 20+ years old when I put did this installation, and since I put it in I have replaced the opener, the bearings, and the drums. But both technicians that worked on the door said that these panels are not enough weight to have a negative effect on anything that is "properly" installed and calibrated!! Hope that helps!"

Big Lou! First time coming across your videos. Thank you so much for your time. In your opinion, do you think the styrofoam panels or the batting insulation you installed is better? To me watching installation of both the batting insulation seems easier to tuck in to the panels rather than messing with the styrofoam that isn't as forgiving. Thoughts?
@BigLousWorkshop5 ай бұрын
thanks so much for the comment I really appreciate it!! As for your question I really can't speak to how effective one is over the other, but the fiberglass kit that I bought has worked remarkably well for my door. I went with this option cause the installation seemed far more simple than trying to cut the rigid foam panels to size. I hope this helps!
