Watching this side by side i realize it was a pointless prequel. Surely after everything that happened they'd know what was wrong with the guy on the plane and the others following him off and would just know to get off the plane -_-

I’ve never seen these movies, but I’ve seen many videos explaining them, and one thing I don’t understand is the premonition. My one theory is that it's an exchange of sorts. When Sam got on the plane, Death caught up with him, and the premonition was given to Alex. So whoever comes across someone who had a premonition before, even if they don’t meet face to face but miraculously pass each other, that next person will end up getting it if that makes sense. Like a hot potato exchange.
