Hen man where did you get the alternator? I can’t find it on the regular auto parts store and how do you know if the alternator is bad or is a computer issue
@EverythingStartsSomewhere8 күн бұрын
Thanks for checking out our channel. Check the description for this video. It has that information. Mine was a noise issue so I k ew it was not the computer.
@JoseGarcia-gn4ng8 күн бұрын
@ the alternator is expensive that is why l ask how to be sure that is what it is , l tested with the multimeter and that thing beeps once and a red light comes on and 0 readings show, l also use the magnetic tactic where you put a metal in front of the pulley and no magnetic force is feeling , l try this with my other pick up and I can feel the magnetic force pulling the screw driver

I am sure this is not a plug and play this will have to be set up with a advanced scan tool.
@EverythingStartsSomewhere13 күн бұрын
I only had the new one installed for a few hours and realized the noise was not from the alternator, so I took it back out. I’m sure there will need to be some computer setup needed. Thanks for checking out the channel. :)

That's not an alternator, it's an electric motor. There is no alternator on the etorque.
@EverythingStartsSomewhere13 күн бұрын
You are correct, but if I name the video Ram 1500 electric motor removal, people will not find this video. For the past 12 months “Ram 1500 Electric Motor” was searched for 5 times, but “Ram 1500 Alternator” was searched for 3779 times. Thanks for checking out our channel :)

Can you remove the computer and transfer it to a new alternator, or you need the whole piece together ?
@EverythingStartsSomewhere13 күн бұрын
I’m not sure if the computer is some how linked to the alternator or not. If you find the answer, please post here and it may help someone else. Thanks for checking out our channel :)

Octane rating is not necessarily the only difference between gasolines. Different brands have different additives in varying amounts. Premium fuels are often combined with the highest level of additives / detergents even within the same brand.

Very nice rig. I just purchased a 24-R4 and haven't even taken possession yet. I have a wish list already a page long. lol I was on the software development team at McDonnell Douglas that developed the flight control software and terrain following modes of the Eagle. The F15E was the first completely fly-by-wire system. I think first flight was in 1990+/-. That was 35 years ago and the Eagle is still soaring.

@EverythingStartsSomewhere2 ай бұрын
I put the new alternator on and started it up and still had the same noise. So I put my old alternator back on and eventually found the noice was from the lower pulley. So ended up with the same old alternator.

We are certainly keeping you all in our prayers. I have been watching your video on removal/install of ram alternator. It's very helpful. Thank you. Question: what was your truck doing to facilitate the alternator issue originally? I believe, per the video, that you ended up replacing the tensioner to make the necessary repairs. I hope you and your family keep safe. Thank you

Excellent analysis and video footage. For the past 20 years, we have been boating to Egmont Key. The erosion from storms has played a significant role for sure. The most recent redistribution of sand as a result of dredging the shipping channel has helped more than expected. The Port of Manatee/Tampa must ensure that a certain depth (60 feet?) for the container ships and cruise ships to safely navigate and make-way to the Port of Tampa. Finally, Egmont Key benefited from the dredging and received the sand. Typically, dredging the channel happens every 2-3 years. A few more projects and Egmont Key will have even more beach.

Thanks for checking out our channel and thanks for the nice comments. It is very cool that you have been boating to Egmont Key. We just moved to Tampa about two years ago and we purchased our first boat about one year ago. We love going to Egmont Key and Shell Key for shelling and snorkeling. I hope they continue to add to the island to keep from disappearing. Safe boating and if you see a Blue and White Crownline E285XS around the island, there’s a good chance it’s my wife and me.

There is an easier way to remove the belt so you don't hurt yourself, release tension on regular tensioner then use a 5/32 Allen or drill bit thatll fit behind the tensioner via small hole that will hold the tensioner locked in place. Once that's in place and locked go back and with a ratchet and breaker bar release tension on 2nd tensioner, you will see the square slot where you insert the ratchet head. OH BEFORE THIS 2ND STEP, remove that middle piece he shows, uses 2 screws once removed you can do the 2nd step or 2nd tensioner release.

I have a 2020 Longhorn with 55000 miles making the annoying whining noise. I took it to the dealer today, and they said the MGU needs replaced. I'm betting it's the tensioner. Fortunately, I purchased a service contract for my Ohio/Canadian truck with a voided Canadian manufactuer warranty. This video is very helpful for changing the MGU or the hydraulic tensioner. Thankyou for posting this.
