How do you protect their eyes from dirt and injury when they’re playing with other dogs?
@bellaandnemo

I’m not sure what you mean really? There are glasses you can buy but I think eye injury from play is very uncommon. It’s more common to have leg breaks and muscle/ ligament tears

It was nice to see all those pups together. I have been researching different dog breeds. I am looking at a Russian toy long hair, a Papillon, and a long hair chihuahua. It was interesting to see the different dog sizes in your video of you and others walking. What dog breed is the smallest dog on your walk with others?

If it's not a therapy dog why assume everyone wanted a dog around them? Some people have dog allergies.

He was in a closed bag and I asked my class mates beforehand if it was okey by them. “Dog allergy “ is not caused by air spread, you have to actively be around the dog or touch it to have any reaction so😅 unless an institution has a marker on the entry that they don’t allow dogs you can take them in

They need to be out very often in the beginning since the bladder is so small. When I got Nemo I was out every 20 mins, every 30, every 40 every hour and so on. Slowly building the time between and also keeping pee pads inside. I limited the area he had inside as well so I could quickly learn his signals. For example at one point he stopped using the pee pad and started peeing on the entry mat, I was confused because he had used the pee pad well. Until I realized he had connected the door with going outside and going to the entry mat / door way was his sign that he needed to go out. So as soon as he did I ran outside to the same spot every time and he started only doing his business outside after that. It took a long time until he was fully fully potty trained. I think about 1 year until we got into the routine we have now of going out 3-4 walks per day :) don’t give up! Consistency is key!

@@bellaandnemo I really don’t want to give up on Roo. He has a cat door that he can go out onto the screened porch and I put a payment out there for him but he will not use it and I work so I’m gone about 56 hours a day which makes it very hard and trying to take him out on walks we run into so many fleas and ticks it’s really really hard and I have tried several different kinds of flea meds and they just do not work. he’s a very smart dog he knows how to sit to wait for his bowl and if I go to head his bowl towards the floor and I stop he sits back down so we have this little game that we play to try to get his bowl to the floor without him getting up and he’s learned really well he loves to play Chase but he also likes to bite and Nala and chew on you and I don’t know how to get that to stop either especially with my four-year-old grandson do you have any suggestions? He makes this funny noise That sounds like the wild dogs of Africa and then he gets all excited and starts tonight and chew on your fingers and bite at your face.

@@wendybrown7068 How Old is your puppy? These dogs need a lot more than just pottying in a yard. If does sound like maybe he is too much for you right now. They need a solid 3-4 walks per day as adults, I walk about 30-45 minutes each walk. It’s the minimum for them To be happy and not rowdy inside. Nemo knows about 100 tricks 😁 they need a lot of stimulation despite their small size. I never leave nemo more than a maximum of 7 hours per day, but that is the absolute maximum, days i need to be away from home longer he goes to a doggy daycare. But also those 7 hours to be alone were reached after about a year of training consistently. In the beginning only leaving them 10-15 minutes can be a challenge. For fleas and ticks I use tablets sometimes as well as natural remedies, and then ofc I bathe him at least every 3 weeks. When it comes to biting, it depends on age, smaller puppies bite a lot until they’ve changed all their teeth and that can be stopped by giving chew toys and diverting their attention. To let them use their nose and to lick up their food helps stimulate and tire them out as well and that can also help with not biting as much. But ofc a 4 year old small child needs also to learn how to behave around a dog. And to learn what to do when they bite on the child. But I’m not a professional trainer so for that I can only Suggest to find a professional Trainer in your area. I wish you the best of luck

I got mine as my first dog, they are unbelievably loyal, will follow you everywhere all the time, when I brought mine home I had to let her out every two hours to pee and poo, after the first night this 8 week old puppy understood that I was letting her out to potty and would wake me up herself, she was extremely smart, food and play driven, most of the things I didn’t even teach her she would just start doing it herself, the bond is unreal with these dogs…keep in mind they are extremely hyper working dogs, they are not made to be inside, if you don’t give them A LOT of mental stimulation and exercise they will be aggressive, one of the more aggressive breeds I encountered, so make sure to walk and play with your dogs folks, we are the owners and are responsible for our pets

Can you tell how your dog behaves with strangers and how much activity your Croatian Sheepdog needs/gets? I live on the countryside, in the middle of nature, we have a huge lot and I have a lot of time for a dog. But due to health problems I can’t do sports (running for example) or very long exhausting walks. But I want such a dog for many years now :)
@duje44
@duje44 5 ай бұрын
@k.771 they are made for sheep rounding up, and directing, its like having remote control in your hands, they understand you talk. I think they are quite similar to border collies. Also here in Croatia, these are kind of dogs if kept in a courtyard, will bark like crazy with maniac look in their eyes if anyone unknown comes close, so they are not popular as much as pets in cities where are tons of passers by, but every man that drives sheep on mountain has one, because you can tell it to bring the sheep, and hell find every one of them, can even remember sheep by name. I guess if you throw them ball or frisby so they can spend energy they ll be calm, but remember, tradition of sheepherding in Croatia was semi-nomadic, you were outside living in tents or "mountain cabins" for 8 months a year, going from pasture to pasture, and these dogs were bread to handle that, and it would be impossible to do that without this dogs. They are not a big bread that can handle bears or wolves, they are more like working the sheep, and alarm, so people usually have bigger breeds with them for protecting the herd. EDIT: not just sheep, but cows as well

As a first time owner of a dog who got a Papillon pup a couple of months ago... This sounds identical, even the coming up to tap on your arm with a paw when he wants to go out and play. The main difference i can see between R.Toy and Papy is hair length and the colour types cause Papys have white base colour where RToys get tones of golden brown through to black Im now getting kind of obsessed with the possibility of seeing a little of Russian Toy + Papillon Cross

okay, so i watched that video BEFORE i got my teeny tiny russian toy. I always had big dogs and so getting a tiny breed was totally new for me. When i watched your video prior to having my little Daisy, i thought you were exaggerating. But oh my god. People ANNOY ME!!! It was fun the first week but now when i walk her, i just want people to leave me alone. I am moderately extroverted but this breed is an attention magnet. Positive as well as very hateful. But nothing could prepare me for the million opinions people are releasing on me on a daily and keep thinking back in your video and think... SHE WAS RIGHT (T_T). I love her though. She is learning fast, is an absolute sweetheart and so eager to please.

thank you for that comment! I am glad that my point came across! Yes I also thought people were exaggerating but after 4 years of commenting every day both good and bad it gets freaking annoying . as i also say in the video these are not only my opinions but I gathered opinions and thoughts from many other RT owners to give an honest review of all the negatives. the video intent was to show if you are fine with the negative then probably this is the breed for you and if not maybe to look elsewhere. I am of the firm belief that one needs to know the good, the bad, the ugly when choosing a breed. your comment is super appreciated ! best of luck with your little sweetheart<3

Personally, I really like this breed. Never personally met any but they remind me of my two most recent breeds that I’ve owned; long-haired Chihuahua, my current dog, and three Papillons over the years. In the 1990s I raised poodles both standard and miniature. I found that the Chihuahua and the Papillons really do a good job of training humans. I’ve heard it in the United States these dogs have been mistaken for Papillons or long-haired Chihuahuas on the rare occasions they’re seen. I’ve seen him in a dog show setting only. Your information is very very useful. People should always consider carefully what type of dog to get. I imagine in the United States there would be fewer comments Towards a Russian toy the walk down the street than in other countries. My current dog, the long-haired Chi, is going to be my last due to advanced age and ill health. Enjoy your little guy I think he’s adorable and I bet he is super smart. ❤❤

I’m considering getting this breed and I kind of love the idea of a big dog within a small size. I’ve had a toy poodle and it’s basically like having a cuddly toy with you which is great but I craved a more “dog” like dog if that makes sense. Could you maybe tell me if you have trouble with the barking inside the apartment? Is that trainable so the dog wouldn’t bark or would stop at command? I live in Finland where quite is appreciated by neighbours 😂
@bellaandnemo
@bellaandnemo Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for your comment! I didn’t have problems with barking excessively inside because I live in an apartment and made it a big priority from the start. I taught him it as tricks for be quiet and to bark. And when he barks I just say thank you thank you and he understands I heard him. But ofc it’s very important to remember that barking or alerting was a big purpose of the creation of this breed of course they are always “ closer “ to a bark than maybe some other breeds :) if you’re in finland I recommend Micro Miracles Kennel🥰 good luck to find your bestie !!

The big dog mentality, in small size, yes, my Russki not has a fear to go after bigger dog,usually goes for the throat instinct of small dogs do, she loves chase birds and shes a very fast runner,i have lge yard, i would never walk off lead, she great walker not a dog that sniffs everything out, she just walks, so well. I just steer away from dogs when walking really otherwise never bitten anyone has no interest to, a human. She so damn loyal to me its lovely. I couldnt find a better small dog, not yacky but great watch dog if someone near comes to door. She terrier in her, more active evening she not over active more like a cat if let her find her curled on bed. Bc hair not fur is good so not constant fur on everything i recommend her highly enough so easy care for with small kids or older person. so good taking out,ready go in her carry bag loves it, so loyal well behaviour. Slittish at times to sudden noises nervous with noises highly sensitive ears, She wont pee or poop till gets home so easy maintain can be fussy eaters. Eats little not food orientated. Mine is clingy to me yes but so easy maybe bc she came from a show judge&breeder mine was desexed tho has all papers proof pure bred, bc lived with her brother &ears dont stand as perfect so desexed bc ears not perfect may bred pups with issue her original owner didnt want take chance with cartliage issues, i got her@2half she little contact other humans, bc from the country, so why city [email protected] jumpy,sensitive to noises.
