it seems to me that the better time to visit the Rogów arboretum is spring (April and May) or autumn (October)...in spring trees and bushes are blooming and in October trees and bushes have more yellow or red leaves than in Novmber, November is often grey and dark. The Rogów narrow-gauge railway is quite interesitng thing, but the train track to Biała Rawska is not available (too bad) so from Rogów the train can get to Jeżów - it's only one third of the entire length of the train track of Rogów narrow-gauge railway. The Rogów station of narrow gauge railway is also the place of workshop to fix the old locomotives and carriges. it's fine and interesting episode and I really like the soundtrack of your introduction.

It is interesting that you use the Polish expression ''Gosc w dom-Bog w dom'' as I am flying to Warsaw tomorrow morning. A long drive to the airport, and then through security. Then a two-and-a-half hour flight from Luton to Warsaw only then to wait yet another hour or so at Polish passport control. I must say that when I stand in these passport queues and they ask me such stupid questions such as ''Why have you come to Poland'' I normally just say something like: 'prawde mowiac, tez zastanawiam sie po co przylecialem ku Polsce!' 'Gosc dom-Bog w dom' I have never felt welcome in Poland and certainly never anything like a 'Bog!'

After the war as a refugee, along with my mother and then my two older sisters, immigrated to Canada from a Polish refugee camp in Germany. Both parents are gone now but I would like to visit Poland. I didn't learn Polish as they wanted to learn English so we all spoke basic English, yet the spoke Polish to each other only. It's awesome that a linguistic imbecile like me recognizes that a Brit in Poland incorporates Polish sayings about the seasons into English. Nowadays, winter has been going on for many years, but it's not winter. It's been snowy for barely a week and the frost is around minus 10. Currently, summer is really hardcore, without air conditioning it is slowly impossible to get temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius at night and 30-40 degrees Celsius during the day. "Wrzesień wrzosi się wrzosem. A wrzosić się wrzosem wrzesień, jakoć jasna ciągnie jesień" so... wrzesień is something like heather because wrzesień pochodzi od heather. Autumn its holly time in Poland, holly time to make "grzybobranie" mashroom taken, mushroom picking.

Very good idea for a film! But in my opinion this film lacked more information about Christmas in December (about decorating Christmas trees, about going to the Midnight Mass, about building Christmas stables) and about the Three Kings' Day in January. Do you understand what I mean? Christmas markets are a commercial phenomenon and have no significance in Poland, whereas, for example, building Christmas stables in every church in Poland (sometimes with live animals) is a tradition that can only be found in Poland. And on Christmas in large cities in Poland people walk from church to church to see these Christmas stables. In addition, if winter in Poland is snowy, sleigh rides are organized and children go sledding and building snowmen. This is also a tradition. In addition, in every larger city in Poland artificial ice rinks are built in winter. Forgive me, but in my opinion you said very little about the activities of Poles during winter and made Poland a second Russia, where only bears walk the streets in winter 😂

Thank you for the very informative film. I never really think about where words come from, I just learn them 'parrot-fashion' but it must be such an aid to getting a better understanding of how vocabulary is built up in a particular language. February or luty, as far as I am aware, comes from an old Polish word for dirty or bleak as February is normally the worst month of the year. I was unaware that it had any connection to frost as frost in Polish is mróz. Are you confusing the Polish word for ice, which is lód but sounds similar? Of course, from the word lód we get the plural form lody meaning ice cream.

That's very nice of you that you are explaining etymology of the names of months in polish. Very good pronouncing by the way. Some of them could be kinda difficult. Also I appreciate that you are referring to so called pagan or just old slavic traditions comparing them to present ones along the way of your journey through Poland learning local legends and all of that. In fact many of old pagan/slavic traditions have been replaced by catholic ones, some even very similar and on the same day to cover old ones and get rid of them from local culture. You can find catholic monasteries in Poland built where used to be places of old pagan/slavic cult, usualy on hills or holy mountains for slavic people like today's monastery placed on one of the highest hills of Holy Cross mountains or even Karczowka monastery in Kielce but that's other story to be told...

Byłem 😁 but briefly, I only really got to see the market square and the palace when I was there, it features briefly at the end of my Beskid Mały video, I aim to return one day 😊

15:05 video will never fully represent the magic of the moment you found yourself in especially in this kind of environment surrounded by ancient forests of Holy Cross mountains. There are many ghosts or I would rather say spirits in this forest but no need to be afraid of them if you respect nature they will welcome you and even protect you showing you the way out of forest if you lost and that is esential part of polish Great Spirit - be respectful and you are welcome. Simple.

@@britinpoland2392must seen places are as you probably already know Swiety Krzyz (Holy Cross) and Sw. Katarzyna. First is a monastery built on an old Slavic place of cult - one of the most important when Poland was not been called Poland yet... There is a tomb of slavic kings underneath monastery but is destroyed and fulfilled by water. It's hard to find any information about it. Second monastery is placed not on the top but at the bottom of the highest hill in Holy Cross mountains. On the top of it there used to be meetings of local witches as rumours say but in fact there used to be remains of ol' pagan/slavic cult. Beside of these there are some more places I will tell you about later on...
