The 55mm and its twin brother the 80mm are same lenses other than focal length, their AF isnt the best, 80 being worst than the 55, but you get to know their weaknesses and strengths pretty quickly

Hi Mitch. Love your video, AND your work. Stunning. I am wanting to get a Mamiya 645 Professional. Does the viewfinder that you use on the prism display the world as we see it with the naked eye e.g. not upside down/left to right? Many thanks, Gina.

I like Canon 85mm f1.8 as the images have least distortion and it is very pleasing to see the images. The lens also captures a lot of light. Also it did not burn my pocket.

I bought my first Fuji camera over a decade ago as a compact kit for when I didn’t want to carry my DSLR. It came with the 18-55. Fast forward to now, I’ve long since moved away from full frame, only use Fuji. I have a dozen Fuji lenses including fast primes, and yet the old 18-55 is STILL the lens I use 95% of the time. I did an exhibition last year where nearly all images were shot with the 18-55. Kit lens or no, this is a piece of glass with almost no compromises.

You don t stop down to 1.8, you open up to 1.8. The fstops work inversely, thehigher the number the less light, that s calledstopping down

If I have iso 400 film and set it to 200 iso, do I still need to over expose the shot by 1 or 2 stops or do I just expose for the shot correctly?

I always had an 85mm f1.8G lens on my Nikon D810 for headshot/portrait kind of things, but lately i bought an 50mm f1.8 lens so i can have a bit more breathing room in a small space, so it is easier to do full body shoot in a small room at 50mm. There is a compression difference for sure, but i can make shots and poses at 50mm that i cannot get at 85mm due to the small space. so its all good. I only bought the 50mm for space restriction. If my room would be 1 meter longer, i probably did not need the 50mm. I am not sure which is better yet. only time can tell i guess. basicly i needed the 50mm. Not because its better but because i have to make it work in a tiny room.

Whether I'm shooting film or digital, I always explain to the model that when I ask for a pose to be held, I mean it. For some reason many models seem to think that they need to "flow" during a shoot - small movements at all times that transition from one pose to another. This can lead to movement and focus issues when you really just want to the model to be still.

Killer photos as always. 0:50 FYI stopping down means going from a small aperture number to a larger one, not the other way around.

They are not going to make dslr lenses if they want you to fork out you're money on full frame cameras and lenses .Why pay £6000 for a camera you must be nuts.These full frame cameras are that good that you have to edit the photos on photoshop.😂😂😂😂😂 what a con (A fool and his money are easy parted )😂😂😂.

hey Mitch, I was wondering, the models in the developement section, do you contact them directly or do you contact the agency and they put you and the model in contact? Also ive tried contacting agency before but they ignored me so do you have recommendation on how to approach them?
@MitchLally
@MitchLally 6 күн бұрын
Hey! Usually you do everything through the agency and your first point of contact with the model is on the day of the shoot or a quick message a day or two prior. To give you some perspective on agencies, when I was in Korea I emailed 11 agencies and only 1 got back to me. But that 1 shoot ended up being amazing and now I have an agency contact in Korea! So you really just need to be persistent.

Calling this a "beginner" camera is condescending. It's a perfectly good camera for an advanced amateur who only occasionally needs a full-frame sensor and can't justify spending more for a fancier set of features. Plus, it's no easier to use -- no more beginner-friendly -- than any other Canon camera. Many people will never "grow out" of the RP because with the right glass and an expert hand it makes the same image as any other full-frame 26Mp camera. If I opt for a FF mirrorless -- I already own a 5D -- it will be an RP because it is all the camera I would need, and -- bonus -- it uses the same batteries as my R10.

Thanks for the video, I’d forgotten about this detail and I appreciate you sharing it. I think I remember seeing a video by another youtuber where he applied the brightness slider and used Photoshop to interpolate the curve it created. It ended up being a S curve that becomes more concave/convex as you adjust the brightness, which makes sense in preserving the details.

I gravitate towards 40mm (Viltrox 27mm f1.2 on the Fujifilm XT-5) as a single lens street setup. My other choice would be fuji’s 18mm f1.4 (27mm - 35mm equivalent) for street. But, I rarely shoot portraits. 😏
