Would love to hear your take on the GFX in terms of the 16 bit color depth and editing compared to say, the Canon setup. I've got an R5 as my main camera and recently picked up an X-T5 but have been tempted to get a GFX since you can get more dynamic range from what some KZbinrs have expressed.

Reading this while I'm sitting here with my EOS RP. 🥲
@MitchLally6 ай бұрын
I don't think 16 bit really matters. Sure while editing 16 bit files are technically going to have less colour banding even if you can't tell to the naked eye there's more colours. But when you render jpgs you're limited to 8 bit - so unless you're routinely printing highly stylised images (and even then) 16 bit has very limited advantages. There could be other reasons I'm not privy to but that's my understanding.
@richwinestudios6 ай бұрын
@@MitchLally True. Was just curious if you noticed a big difference in color grading and dynamic range before the final JPEG processing. Love how the colors look with Fuji’s profiles within Lightroom on my X-T5. 🙂
@MitchLally6 ай бұрын
@@richwinestudiosyeah this is a big reason I’ve landed on Fuji to be honest. Even though Raw is powerful and you can take it any direction you like the starting base and images sooc make me excited about my work.
@richwinestudios6 ай бұрын
@@MitchLally That's great to hear! It's one of the reasons I'm considering switching fully. I've got a decent collection of RF lenses and love my primes as well as the unicorn 28-70 F2 but I agree with many that the X-T5 is just fun to shoot with and while the Canon is a beast, the GFX series seems to have exceptional depth if you aren't needing the fast AF like the Canon. Your work is phenomenal! Appreciate your perspective!

Fun shoot! Constant light is best left for video use or with spotlights/gobo effects. For stills it's just a waste of electricity. Flash is much more efficient.

For film are you metering for 800 iso or are you overexposing/underexposing the images. Lomo 800 kinda clean for studio shoots😮💨
@MitchLally6 ай бұрын
I had my ISO set to 400 effectively overexposing by 1 stop on the evaluative meter on my Fuji. Yes it is very clean - the grain is super fine and in my opinion very pleasing. Lomo 800 and Gold 200 are my go to film stocks for medium format - I would only shoot Portra if I couldn't find any Lomo or I got a particularly good deal on it.

Now do the same shoot with a 5 year old iPhone in natural sunlight 'cause none of the gear matters when you have a conventionally attractive model who's a pro at posing.
