Beautiful .. I can’t wait to do the illusion purple soon 🙏🏼
@hotcolors9455Ай бұрын
I agree with all of these. If it's my first time with a color, I will pick a small part that is easy to strip for a test piece. I usually can pull it off first shot but you don't want to take a chance on a large part that will be difficult to fix. We are pretty busy and don't always have time to shoot a test part. The last one got me about 2 years ago when I realized that Stone Black cures at 375 for 18 min. Ever since then I check the cure schedule every time. It's quite convenient that Prismatic puts the cure schedule right on the bag.

each illusion has its own gel time and mil thickness requirements. so it is best to look/read each TDS of each color ---just a heads up ie pink is 2.5-3.5; whereas purple is 2.0-3.0.

I got an aftermarket bumper in and it’s black powder coat from factory the powder coat place said they could just powder coat a new bronze color (the color match I want for my truck) over the factory black powder coat is that true ?
@PrismaticPowdersАй бұрын
It can be done, but it's not the best practice and they may find that they struggle a little with getting the bronze to lay down since it will have metallic. The main problem with powder coating over other powder coating is that the bond is only as good as what is bonded directly to the metal. If there were any problems with that base layer, there will be problems with all the layers.

What kind of shit is 2 min after it flows, How do I gage that? Does your oven have glass doors? How does anyone see when it flows. Do you keep opening the door? What if you have slightly different thicknesses that dot heat equally? You do realize we dont do one part at a time? I don't agree with the 2 min after flow thing anyway. If it's not flashed long enough, the clear will pull the metallics and make it look mottled or funky. A better way to do it is to heat the base to over 300 degrees and pull it.
@PrismaticPowders2 ай бұрын
You want to stay as close to 2 mins after flowout as possible. I would suggest racking parts of similar thickness and part density. They don't need to be identical, the main takeaway is that if you stay in the ballpark with your timing, then the finished "look" of your parts will stay consistent(sometimes a single part has areas of varying densities and it works just fine. Don't worry about the clear pulling the metallics unevenly with only 2 mins after flowout...this powder was designed for this...It'll be just fine.
@kristoffbaumann5797Ай бұрын
I think when they say flow out they’re meaning when the powder starts to “cure” in a sense. Basically when the powder turns glossy

How long does the coating last?
@PrismaticPowdersАй бұрын
I depends on the environment and how often you wash the surface. If you are using it on wheels for example, it will not last as long as if it were applied to hand railing. Being that it is a ceramic protective coating, if applied to clean wheels, it should last for 20+ washes.

Hard to say without first hand experience, but if it performs all of those tasks, in sounds like a respectable unit. As always you get what you pay for and what we've seen is for those that coat as a hobby, it could be great but if you rely upon a unit for a business longevity is certainly a factor and therefore the investment in top tier systems is a wise move.

Hi work in the motor trade, would sanding the part(alloy wheel) down with 240g and wet blast to tight corners be enough to coat the part only if the original coating has good adhesion and is not pealing, also if 2k paint has been used on the alloy is it ok as along as it can be baked at the curing temp to powder over the top of it
@PrismaticPowders3 ай бұрын
For the first part of your question, yes you could hand sand and blast the corners. While not as good as sandblasting to bare substrate, it is an option for when you can't strip and blast a wheel. For the second part of your question, I can't say for sure. It's possible, I would test it on something small and insignificant if possible. There could be a possibility for some sort of gassing but given that powder can go over a high temp spray paint without issue, it would be worth trying. Sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer.

Can you over cure a part, that is holding it at the correct temperature for too long and if so what negative effects does it do aside from costing you extra time and heating energy?
@PrismaticPowders3 ай бұрын
Yes, you can. There are some negative impacts that can occur from over curing, most common problems are discoloration and a degradation of durability. Keep in mind that you are not likely to experience either of these from an extra 5 or 10 minutes, rather a much longer over cure .

So if I have KV and UA are you saying 100 kv and adjust the UA ?
@PrismaticPowders3 ай бұрын
Well, that depends. I know that 's a terrible answer but for most single coat applications with a gun that allows for fine tuning, you would be fine. However, sometimes you may not want your kV all the way to 100. For example, you may want to make adjustments to both for finessing the powder into tight spaces with good transfer efficiency.

how to do multiple colors in powder coating process
@PrismaticPowders4 ай бұрын
In general, you'll want to flash each layer before adding the next one, and follow the cure schedule for the last powder used. Depending on what process you want to follow (masking, vacuum etc.) there will be additional steps involved. We do have other videos on multi-step powder coating on our channel. They may be helpful for you.

Can powdercoated parts get actual ceramic coating from a glass bottle like your cerakote for paint?

Is anti gas primer good for PVD?
@PrismaticPowders4 ай бұрын
That's a good question, get in touch with the PVD manufacturer to verify,...just to cover your bases. Depending on the application and the application method it may be possible. A lot of times people are using PVD because it's thin, or can be ablated, if this is the case for you, it's probably not going to be a good option.

zinc primer yes or no? before a illusion
@PrismaticPowders4 ай бұрын
I think it would be risky, I think there would be a possibility for the primer to get pulled into and through the dormant pigments of the illusion layer. Is there are particular reason you need a Zinc Primer on the project?
