What is the overall reasoning behind the beauty pageants? It appears to me to be a form of exploitation of the tribal women. I get the impression it has to do with the casino's and powwows as a way to make money for whoever is behind it. However much of it is made isn't trickling down to the tribes as a whole if some of the rez's are rich while others are poor. Sad to hear.

They guys were from western Agency Arizona. Used go in as a boilmaker welder or mechanic. I didn't have any family members on them jobs, go in as independent. While guys used to have their family there. They didn't like my work Performance, get the job done in a timely matter. So come lay off time when the job was almost completed I get laid off. While the slackers would stay on. Especially when their was a shut down at Page, Az NJS. It got worse when I got into being a foreman. The company man that we used to work for only gave me Hispanic workers. I didn't mind we just did what we were assigned to. Than take over someone else project's. Because the guys used to just take there time. So it was true us native Especially Navajos we are Prejudice against our own people. So i know were u are coming from. But I'm glad i got out of that shut down work force. So now i working with a bunch of Caucasian and Hispanic people. They appreciate your work Performance.

3x MIA 1st attendant here (09, 13, 17) in 2009 I completed my time as 1st attendant. In 2013-2014, I went on to compete for another title as MIA 1st attendant & won. I wasn’t required to pay back my scholarship or award then as the rule was implemented later. In 2016-2017, I turned in my application for MIW 2017 & the association took that as me relinquishing my title & because I served “half a year” I had to pay back half my scholarship. I won congeniality & evening that year & got to keep my awards. If attendants after didn’t pay back that’s unfair to you & myself who had to. If you ever want to chat or need someone to talk with, I’m here for you! I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason 🥰
