Years ago my mom had a bf who lived with us for years. Ever since he moved in he was great but then he would start to harass me and my sisters when we were little. He treated us like we were his daughters. Ofc we were kids and didnt know what to do or say. To everyones eyes, he was a nice smart guy who took care of his family. More years past and we grew more uncomfortable around him and avoided being alone with him. One day my sister suddenly got the courage to tell our mom the truth. As expected my mom got upset and mad. It was hard for her to process it all from all her daughters. It was difficult to calm her down. As soon as he got home, right away she yelled at him. She expressed every feeling me and my sisters have held onto for so long. He acted confused and defensive. But she knew what to say and got him everytime he was making up lies. In the end she kicked him out and never came back. We did report him to the police. And we went through therapy. Days later he sent his friend to pick up all his stuff for him. And that was it. Our whole life changed so fast after that. It definitely got harder but I never felt more safe and comfortable walking around in my own house. Im so thankful my mom stuck by our side and never wavered or showed fear. Nothing he ever did or said held her back. She was so strong and brave and ill always admire her for that. Ever since that day, I've always lived in fear and always felt anxious whenever I'm out or home alone. It's hard to be independent at times. Questions run through my mind from time to time. What if i run into him? what if he stalks me? Did he hire men to watch us? Is he gonna do something to get back at me and my family? I have no idea where he is or what he's doing now but I always feel like he's watching and waiting. It's not all men but everytime I find myself alone with a strange man, even when im with friends and my family, I always see his face.
