Hello . Could you help me ? Bought a 1975 Ford 5000 and did all the recovery myself . But there is no power in the arms . Cant lift a 300 kg hay bale. Have no leaks on the arms and replaced the rubbers of them. I was told it was the hidaulic pump. Where is it the hidraulic pump ? And what can I do . Thank younso much

Does all the hydraulic oil need to be drained or not? I have Ford 6600 80'

Can’t say because I’m not familiar with that model. This one had already lost quite much rear end oil. You could drain a gallon or two and put it back in after, if it looks clean and usable. You could also park the tractor on some wooden blocks to tilt it sideways that way you get more space to work with and the oil flows to the other side. Just be safe.

I am doing this job on my 4610SU. The left side seal replacement went just as is shown in your video. I have ruined 5 seals trying to replace the right side seal. Using calipers, I have determined that the right side hole in the rear axle housing is about 1/10 of an inch too small. The relevant OD on the seal is 1.977 inches; the ID of the hole is 1.875 inches. I believe the hole in the rear axle housing is out of spec. Have you or anyone else encountered this dilemma? It seems my options are give up and get a different tractor; find a replacement rear axle housing and install it; remove the rear axle housing and find someone who can machine the hole to spec. Replacing the axle housing or having it machined are both huge jobs that I am pretty sure my local New Holland dealer would decline to perform, citing staff shortages and the cost/benefit of fixing a 1981 4610SU. Any other options are welcome. So far this debacle has chewed up a week for a job that should take a couple of hours at most.

No sorry, did not encounter any problems like that. Looks like it’s the same replacement part number aswell for both models so something seems off with your specimen. And there is nothing left over like a ring from another old seal or something stuck in the hole? All I can think of is to somehow squeeze the seal a little bit to reduce it’s size, but that might ruin it aswell. Or maybe another seal with a smaller diameter for another tractor model. It’s a long shot.

Thanks for taking the time to make that, the use of hose to protect the threads is a great idea too.
