Best comment, by any developer ever....."we may not be the game for you". I love how direct and open Steven is about his game. Take it or leave it, but it is what is is. I really admire this and why I backed the project.

Did he ask Steven why after all these years there's like only 20% of a zone available that even has content.... like that's crazy to me. When i saw what was available i was kinda taken back

I have two fears…and I am joining alpha 2 soon. 1) in a two side system one will going to dominate the other leaving a server where one side rules all. People will start leaving and others who join will only join the biggest team…so adding to the imbalance. Thats why a 3 side system would be better….or that we can hire good npc to figth with us. 2) multi class at lvl 25. If a rogue, priest or tank can get wizzard blink…the game is lost.

The multi class thing is tough cause I dont think we can really assume those skills would be broken on this mix or that mix because we dont know what other classes or mixes can do yet. What if you were a warrior and had 3 gap closers but you didnt do that much damage because instead of damage abilities you decided to get 3 gap closers instead? What if the class you are fighting has ways to slow you or stun you and you dont have a way of getting out of it. All those are factors in what makes things broken or not for classes. So we cant really say teleport on any of those classes would be broken yet without testing it ourselves

Back in the FFXI days , the penalty for deaths was 10% deduction of the character total Exp. It was so bad, people would rather lay down on the ground for mins and hours and wait for high level rezes (which could avoid Exp deduction). When the death penalty system is too severe, it turns people away. This is a game, not a reality. My suggestion for AOC is to have a grace penalty on the first death, with only 50% penalties. The second death within a 3-hour period shall receive a 100% penalty. There is already enough penalties in this game already. You can lose city nodes, you can lose player housing, etc.

pvpers are talking shit like "go to another game" but they are wrong and stupid, no mmorpg will succeed today in 2024 and actually make money without solid pve content forget it you are clueless plus change the class name tank..that is just dumb.

The biggest reason for gold sellers existing is because the economy makes it too hard to get the money you need. If making enough money wasn't like pulling teeth, the gold sellers would mostly die out.
@Mike-hy8cs
@Mike-hy8cs 3 сағат бұрын
the thing is money should be an obstacle in an mmo or it becomes stale and the value of it is completely diminished. Doesnt have to be super hard to make money but it shouldnt be easy either.
@boredfangerrude8759
@boredfangerrude8759 2 сағат бұрын
@Mike-hy8cs Sure, somewhat of an obstacle but if high level raid boss hard, you've failed your game and players. And most devs have failed their players.

@boredfangerrude8759 yeah true but i heard the game is going to have dynamic difficulty so shouldnt be a problem with raiding persay

If you want to balance pvp and pve, you need to rethink what pvp is because what we think of as pvp is only a TINY portion of what pvp actually is.

A death penalty for consensual open world PVP will ONLY DISCOURAGE players from doing it, which seems to be not what Ashes is going for.

Oh pa-lease top-gun pilots are complete credulus goobers who constantly chace reflections on their own canopies. And these top tier airforce generals are just regurgitating their own conspiracy addled childhoods watching the X-files, these congressional hearings are a total JOKE and a distractionary stunt. The people who DON'T see UFO's are peoples who's job is to actually look at the sky, astronomers, meteorologists etc. Every bit of video we get shown is blurry garbage despite cameras multiplying in number and resolution by a thousand fold in the last 30 years.

Great interview. Damn i cant wait to play this game and im glad steven isnt caving into all these gamers that want to change his game. Cant wait for death penalties to come back to mmo's. even in pvp. Playing throne an liberty lately as a pvp minded gamer its still just not the same as old school mmo's like lineage 2. theres no meaning if you can just keep runing in and failing with no consiquences. PVE'rs dont fret, there will be plenty of pve.
@Mike-hy8cs
@Mike-hy8cs 3 сағат бұрын
Theres a lot of good end game systems of throne and liberty the problem with throne is the p2w ofc but more importantly the combat, dsync, and clunkyness of parkour, climbing mechanics and just the overall combat of the game. Forcing players to go out into the world in end game is great, gearing feels pretty good, dungeons although very linear have good mechanics other than the parkour involved ones, open world bosses are cool and it being able to handle so many players in one area is great, pvp focused objectives is great. So if it could just fix the big flaws it has it will be a very solid mmo with some p2w aspects of it

I am a FFXI(11) vet, we over level at max level as a buffer to have exp to lose but if you don't manage that pool you can delevel which sucked. I like this management that curves the debuff with preparations but you can still lose it if your not careful. PvE sort of means, let me hoard feeling instead of, let me hire PvP and drive more into the game. Spreading and growing your own honor and lore seems more fun.

Steven plays Dota-The game is in good hands. Now I know he knows the value of diverse spells and their impact which will be paramount when second archetype comes into play. If he said that he plays LoL where every skill is basically reskin of the same ability from other champ, I would be worried. XD

"Certain players" have been disinvited? You think "certain players" is narc?
@PawketsArt
@PawketsArt 14 сағат бұрын
Probably more likely those who ignore directives to stop griefing for purposes of testing or those who actively exploit. Narc is a negative Nancy but you wouldn't want to just disinvite people that like unless he's done more than what I know of.

Vlhadus, checkout 'Listening Triangle', really handy tool for knowing when your not listening, listening just to agree/disagree, listening to tell your own story, listening to action or listening to understand.

I am totally in the PvX community of players, because it is much more immersive and stimulates player dynamics, having experienced it in some rare games. The idea is your alliance of players will seek to offer "safe" buffer zones, with some playing as guardians/rangers so their harvester players and crafters can do their thing (without an organized local community though, there could be issues). Of course, my experience also makes me know it requires some moderation and exceptions (such as a central hub in town that would be 100% safe); which I presume is common wisdom though I have seen a few games ignore that obvious council from their players. :P Intrepid is listening, so I am not worried.
