Thanks Pastor Mike for the advice of planning your reading. I have a stack of books but I am all over the place. I start reading them but then I slack off. 2025 here we go!! 💪😁

This is great advice for anyone in 2025. People are beginning to wake up from the meme news and 60 second narratives spewed by mainstream media. That is why long form podcasts (2-3 hours) are becoming more popular. Those who read books have a deeper understanding of the world as well as a better BS filter. Good message, Right on Neph!

So if a woman cannot, Biblically speaking, be a president because it is a position of authority/leadership does that also exclude a woman from the following roles: the principal of a school, a manager or CEO, a queen (Elizabeth I, II), a member of congress, the director of any program, etc.?
@highlandsbiblechurch4 ай бұрын
Not necessarily, it depends on the situation. We are crossing some categories here between the church and society. In church, women "cannot" be leaders (pastors/elders) as we have direct Scriptural instruction. In society, it is more that women "should not" be leaders because of that clear biblical example of male leadership -- and we should follow the Biblical example of male leadership as much as possible as the situation warrants.

Carrine, thank you for sharing the hard journey you have been through and are still on. It is so encouraging to hear first hand about the love and keeping power of our God even in the hardest, most uncertain times in your life! It is also encouraging and convicting to hear of the role of the church in standing with you.

You can be LGBT and Christian 👨❤️👨
@highlandsbiblechurch Жыл бұрын
Hi Dan - thanks for your comment. Questions/Reponses for you: Can you define terms? What do you mean by "be LGBT and Christian?" It probably means one of two things - either an active LGBT (and there are a lot of differences within those letters) and professing Christian or a Christian who struggles with same-sex desires and/or gender dysphoria, but submits to God's will and does not give into sin. If it's the former - a Christian who is an active LGBT, then NO - that cannot be. Scripture makes it very clear that we died to sin and therefore can no longer live in it. (Romans 6 for example) Sure, everyone sins...but choosing to live in a pattern of sin as a lifestyle can't be Scripturally reconciled. When we sin, again which we all do, we need to confess, repent, seek reconciliation and forgiveness from God thru Christ and grow and change away from the pattern of sin - not live in it. If it's the latter - a Christian who struggles with same sex attraction and/or gender dysphoria...but does not give into sin...then YES, I absolutely agree. Every Christian is in a war with sin and we fight it until our dying breath. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can put sin to death in our lives and grow in holiness, that is the goal. Happy to talk more. -Pastor Mike

If you want to pry into people's private sexual behavior among your OWN, the people who voluntarily place themselves under your ideology, you do you. But what you need to understand is how to live in a plural society. And how come there are ZERO videos by Christians about GLUTTONY. That's known as one of the seven deadly sins, whereas not sexually oriented ones made that list. I don't see Christians grouped outside all-you-can-eat buffets decrying the obese people going in and out as "sinners". And you know what else I don't see? I don't see any mention going on in your pulpits because most of those folks would have to start with THEMSELVES and all those dinners down in the fellowship hall. Ezekiel 16:49 says precisely what Sodom's sin was: Over-abundance and the closed hand to others. Isn't it odd that it doesn't even count any sexual problems there at all??? And what's the surest signal of affluence? Overfed people. It's people who now over-use medical care resources. Who jam up pharmacies to get their "treatment" for their fork-induced problems. Who crowd hospitals for tucks and heart valves and replacing joints that can't stand up to that much abuse to their "temple". All of which makes EVERYbody's health care more expensive through insurance premiums. Meanwhile, you guys are instead hyper-focused on what happens between consenting adults.
@highlandsbiblechurch2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Jenna - you probably should watch the whole video before commenting. :-) You are right that gluttony was one of the many sins the Bible specifies for Sodom, but God doesn't call gluttony an "abomination" - please get the whole context instead of taking verses out of context from the larger narrative - see Ezekiel 16:50...Sodom committed "an abomination" and he isn't referring to gluttony - but homosexuality...as in the main narrative in Genesis 19. All sin is rebellion against God's standard and authority, but they differ in severity.

The problem with christianity is the morality of god's commands. Explain to me the morality of god's commands in the bible. Matthew 10:34 Numbers 31:17-18 Leviticus 21:17-23 Leviticus 25:44-46 Timothy 2:11 1 Peter 2:18 Deuteronomy 21:18-21 Ephesians 6:5 Just the treatment of women alone in it should be questioned. The laws allowing for rape, murder, and slavery alone should be sole reason to stop believing. Religion is magical make believe and about asserting empty baseless speculations as if it is absolute truth. Holy scriptures have zero facts. Holy scriptures were not created or inspired by any god. Animals did not come along before plants, the Earth did not have empty oceans or even existed before the Sun was created, Adam and Eve never existed, there has not been a global flood on this planet yet. The burden of proof is on the believers and there is zero evidence. Morality does not need religion, but religion needs more morality.

A recent survey of Christians showed only 30% believing the whole "only way to god" thing. What that tells me is that your pews are pretty full of people who have already mentally left the church. They just stay for the social aspects and it's a habit or expectation in the community. And of course, that's your claim. No group ever said "We're cool but so are those other folks over on the other corner."
@highlandsbiblechurch2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenna, thanks for your comment. Where was the survey from? I'd be curious to know more of their metrics. Can you send a link? Sadly, as for the mainline churches, my first reaction is that I would agree. It's a sad state for sure that so many once faithful churches have departed from the historic, orthodox, Apostolic faith. And I think that's the gist of the matter because what you describe isn't the case here. That's not a matter of "we're cooler than the other folks on the corner," but rather a case of faithfulness. The church is called in the Word of God to remain to be faithful to the faith delivered once for all the saints. To that end, we practice biblical church membership here to do our best that our members understand the historic, orthodox, Apostolic faith and are endeavoring to live it out faithfully. No one will do that perfectly, but that is why we all need the grace of God in Jesus, His Son. Thanks again for commenting and hope to talk more soon. Pastor Mike
