Lantern will look nicer with lowest aperture. I also like the fact that it lights the shadow side of your face, where with the dome light, it is totally in dark shadow. Thank you for your comparison video.

Just found your stuff as I've been researching a particular lens for an upcoming project. Your videos are entertaining, and while what you say in this video is mostly true, especially for those who are just getting started in "filmmaking" - myself, having actually been on Spielberg's sets when I worked at Universal Studios (was on his Jurassic Park 2 set and his Amistad set) and having been in filmmaking and studying film for decades, I can tell you that Spielberg shot almost exclusively with a 21mm lens, as does Tim Burton and Martin Scorsese. And many or my favorite Directors exclusively shoot with only wide angle lenses; Orson Welles and Jean-Pierre Juenet used 18mm and 25mm lenses, The Coen Brothers almost always use only 27mm for everything, as does Wes Anderson, David Cronenberg, and David Fincher. Of course there are exceptions... Ridley Scott loves 75mm Anamorphic. But in general, most of the top Directors don't like switching out to different focal lengths if they don't have to, because they know how to use their favorite Focal Length in all the ways that are needed to achieve that context and emotion of the scene. But for everyone else watching your video... good advice!

AND while the S5II may work for some :) HERE my beef with the Panasonic S system as a filmer and photographer. So while the S series may work for you :) For me it has one >>MORTAL FLAW<<< and that >>MORTAL FLAW<< is that the S cameras do not allow to automatically adjust AUTOMATIC EXPOSURE when using MF or AF/S mode. They lock AE and so when you do a run and gun reportage video or photo your AE is locked to ONE VALUE as soon as you keep the shutter half pressed resulting in over and underexposed photos and footage :) However much I love everything about my S1/S1H/S5II in all practicality they are USELESS ( so have to go back to my Sony ) ... honestly I do not know how Panasonic can get away with such a glitch :) NOT A SINGLE REVIEWER HAS POINTED THIS OUT : D

How AF works when you DONT TRACK any subject? It aim to closest thing? But LiDAR is above the lens, so basically it's useless...? What about non-parfocal zoom lenses? It's unusable too right?

I used a lot of rigs in this style early in my career, they can be handy, but over time I've shifted more and more into rig solutions that can hug the camera profile more. using cages or cage extensions that have rosette mounts so I can just attach handle to cage, and using shoulder pads that can be attached right under the the camera's center of gravity. I found that units that keep the camera's weight forward like this one seems to in Sam's shown configuration tend to only help with stability for a short time as I'm doing more work with my arms than letting the camera's weight set on my center of gravity. Granted something like this might be the perfect setup if you're using a camera you can set back further or if you have a big extended v mount battery system you can put on the back over the shoulder rest to better distribute the weight. For run and gun smaller profile shooting on my everyday carry mirrorless I've shifted to a setup that kind of reminds me of a circa 1960's home enthusiast rig, where I'll put a bottom handle on the camera and operate with the weight pressing against my shoulder/chest, something like the mantis pod works very well for a modern version of this kind of setup.

I use the S5ii and its such a good camera. For the price and specs. For me the camera is the bench mark for other camera brands. Camera users will always want more and more lol. Eventually they will be asking for a camera that edits for them lol. The questions why is the camera being bought for ? Do you want to be a KZbinr or a film maker ? Always think buying a camera like the S5ii/x just to be a KZbinr is a waste of a camera. I perfer to be behind the camera an use the camera as a Videographer so always get some much show. Haveing the fast AF on the S5ii has done wonder's .

Can you use the same lidar sensor with something like the RS3 so you CAN use a gimbal with the same system or go with this handheld? I would love this system for my films because I don’t usually use Gimbals for things like that, but I love the tracking with the Lidar/Gimbal combo for events when the speaker moves around and I’m a small crew (often by myself). I wouldn’t want to get two whole systems if I can get the one LiDAR sensor, then different accessories to pair with it as needed in different scenarios.

Sony user with a7cii, but now I'm considering the s5iix 😆 Shooting video podcast and want full-frame, without worrying about overheating, with great colors sooc. Love Sony quality and more familiar with it, but the Lumix has really nice video, and the only other option that's FF with fan is FX3 for 2x the cost and have the resolution.

I unsubscribed many many months ago because I felt you were brand hore... Back to not see an S9 review: Did you not get an invite from Panasonic because of this video... After watching Gerald Undone's recent takings on camera firms marketing departments, specifically Lumix, came back to check your S9 review and see if it was a beige as all the other 'non-partisan' reviews.

I recently bought the G9ii to replace my GH5 and I couldn't be happier the G9ii does everything I wished the GH5 could have namely the shit autofocus, I know you can achieve almost everything by pulling focus manually but it sucks especially if you have a touch of arthritis as i do in my hands, plus the autofocus works amazingly well not to mention the upgraded IBIS which is even better than the S5iiX, agreed the extra stops of light on full frame is much better especially in low light but my Nikon D750 and my f/1.4 Nikon lenses do that brilliantly just not video, I sold my Nikon Z6ii and a z lens to afford the G9ii and yes the Z6ii takes way better photos than imo any of the Lumix cameras but the video on anything bellow the Z8 still sucks and I just can't afford £3,700.00 for a camera body only, btw the IBIS and the video autofocus on the G9ii is way better than the Z6ii despite the Z6ii having costed about £600.00 more than the G9ii at launch, plus those MFT lenses make my life a lot easier because they weigh at least half as much as full frame lenses making my camera easier for me to hold, and I absolutely love the menu system in Lumix cameras as it allows you to change and accurately control settings so much better than almost any other camera system I've ever used. Well thanks for your insights into both of these fabulous Lumix cameras it's greatly appreciated

I like DJI but 8Gb only and no safe lavalier atachment. Nice they include bluetooth soo no mess cable over. You must remove pizza slice for include cheap lavalier. i like my Senheizer MK2. I have the DJI 1. So for me dont worth the upgrade. and i got dji because rode need app to handle the audio file that was a single reason. I think the same RODE sound better but i use it with lavalier so that dont change the want to buy. And DJI have better stability wich is better than try to conect 1km away. Small and stable than large and unstable conection.
