Oh no! That is disappointing. I did see that you can book ferries to Geiranger, but I don't know if you'd have enough time for that. I'm hope Hellesylt will have super beautiful places as well.

Unfortunately we will be there in early Oct so there are only two departures from Geiranger back to Hellsylt. We won't be able to make it back on time to the ship as the all onboard time is 3.30pm.

We boarded in Copenhagen, and there were very few accommodations within a mile of the ship terminal. However, public transportation is very easy, and a bus goes right to the terminal. Or a long walk. But we left from Oceankaj, if you are looking at a map. Hope that helps some!

I was born and raised in Ft. Wayne and am a 2 time IU grad. I moved to Washington in 1979, where I met my wife, a migrant from Illinois. Moving West was a choice we never have regretted. Our life in Washington has been great, filled with wonderful experiences amid the incredible beauty the state has in abundance. Glad you were able to enjoy a small sample. Having spent over 30 years hiking and backpacking in the North Cascades, I can tell you that what you saw is only a small taste of their exquisitely rugged scenic grandeur. I hope you have the opportunity to come back when the kids are a bit older, to push a bit higher and deeper into the backcountry. It's a rich and rewarding experience that amply repays the sweat and exertion. In the meantime, enjoy continued happy travels with your family. The kids will be grown and gone before you know it, so treasure your time with them, as you seem to be doing quite well.

Good day...I am travelling on this ship May 2024. Can I use US Dollars in Norway or do I have to exchange to Krone before I get there
@MillerFamilyAdventures68 ай бұрын
We never exchanged, but we also didn't use cash. We had a card (Chase) that worked in Europe, and we used it everywhere. We didn't run in to any place that didn't take a credit card. That's what I'd recommend if you can. If not, I read that it was recommended to exchange to kroner.

Did you book a MSC expedition tour or did you went out on your own?
@MillerFamilyAdventures610 ай бұрын
We went out on our own. There are links in the description for the places we went. We also love to hike, so we used an app called "All Trails" to find places to go. But when we got off the boat in Geiranger, there were places to book all sorts of things! That's where we found the Via Ferrata.
@kathychua744910 ай бұрын
i booked the same itinerary as yours. is it true that people embark and disembark at all the ports? or just kiel and copenhagen?
@MillerFamilyAdventures610 ай бұрын
I am pretty sure that new passengers only board and end at Kiel and Copenhagen.
@kathychua744911 ай бұрын
wonderful videos! i booked the same cruise. what would be the best side of the ship for best views - port or starboard? also, do you pick the embarkation checkin time or is it assigned?
@MillerFamilyAdventures611 ай бұрын
The embarkation check in time was assigned, although we were late for ours by about two hours because of oversleeping and it was not a problem. We were starboard in our room, but really the views were similar on either side, because of being surrounded when you are in the fjords. The captain also turns the ship in a circle at one point so rooms on both sides can get the same view 😀 I might not be the best authority of view though, as I often left our room to go up to deck when I really wanted to have the best views.

We did not do any of the cruise-line excursions. We booked our activities ourselves. For the activities that we did, I put links in the description of this video. Im assuming getting from Copenhagen to the port was easy and getting to the metro to your hotel? Were planning the same cruise and im always weery of language barriers & making mistakes 😂lol. Even though i know Denmark speaks English as a second language. May I also ask which hotel you stayed in and was it far from the port?
@MillerFamilyAdventures611 ай бұрын
Yes, the metro system was easy to figure out. I used Apple maps on my iPhone, and it has a public transit feature that told me exactly where to go🙂 The port was a little tricky because we had to wait for a bus, and we weren't sure if we were at the right bus stop. I highly recommend getting a "City Pass" at the first metro station you come to. There's one in the Copenhagen airport. That gives you access to buses and metro and all public transportation for 24 hours. Made things a lot simpler. The hotel we stayed in on the way to the port was Cabinn Copenhagen. It was fine. We liked our hotel on the way back better, Hotel Osterport. Hotel Osterport was right across the street from a metro station. Thanks for your question!

We went 2:30-4:00 and the ship left at 5:00. It’s easily walkable to the ship in 10 minutes. Also, you can leave the sauna early if you are nervous. But I thought it was enough time.
