I just love hearing 178,000 year-old seizing corpse that we are not even sure is still alive worth untold billions telling us that firing people who have worked their lives to get where they are is doing the Lord’s work.

There's a real difference between being a professor and a REAL teacher. The professor "professes" what they know and if the students don't get it, too bad! A REAL teacher understands, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink. However, that's not a teacher's job. The job is to know how to make the horse thirsty and then the horse will run to drink." A REAL teacher knows how to inspire students to learn. But universities are full of academics, not teachers! 😢

It was a dumb question, it's equivalent to "Why doesn't everyone copy the guy at the poker table who won?" Err, well because everyone can't be the lucky guys who won big and if everyone made the plays that BH did then they wouldn't work - well it would be a huge stock bubble for a time and then crash. Remember that investing is always successful in hindsight - why didn't you all buy Nvidia in 2016? You'd all be millionaires today. And the reason is because it is too hard to know beforehand and easy to convince people you're smart afterwards for those lucky few who did. Remember Charlie Mungers main drive is the fear of being poor. The fear of medical bills. He's scared. He's not smart. Both of the pair wasted their lives amassing a huge fortune that they had no use for and got little, if any enjoyment from and now they're both old. Don't envy or covet what they have because they don't have anything of value. Being 20 years old would be more valuable than all of their wealth - and if you are 20 years old enjoy that and make the most of that - and you don't need billions of dollars. More so if you don't use any of it. And don't be fooled that the winner of a poker game is smart and has answers. Every poker game has a winner. It's expected that if millions of people are gambling on stocks that a couple of them are going to win big just by chance that would be true. It's very possible to be dumb and lose money in poker and investing, but the notion that you can be smart and predict the future is not true - and you can realise that, if these 2 could do the impossible then they actually failed - they actually didn't make that much money if they were supposed to be smart. They actually failed to buy good stocks more often than they did buy them. Don't be suckered into believing their BS and talking in hindsight. The question you should ask them is : if you're so smart how come you made so little money? Remember, if you just randomly bought some bitcoin or nvidia 5 or 10 years ago then you'd be rich today and the ego is going to fool many of those who did that they were smart rather than lucky. And remember too that gambling on stocks only works because millions of other people are creating something that Munger never has created. Him saying there are no people in his company is as stupid as Gabe Newell saying Valve doesn't have many people. Valve as a game developer are next to useless. They make all their money taking a cut from companies that spend millions and hire tons of people working hard or thousands of little companies all working hard. But everyone can't be valve, everyone can't be the monopoly on selling PC games online and just sit back and take a cut. When valve try to write a game themselves it takes them ages, they fail more often than they succeed. If they solely relied on game development they probably would have gone bust or had to sell decades ago - but someone has to write games for valve to be able to take a cut selling them. Someone has to do the actual work in the world that Munger feeds off too. It's like your cc company takes a cut of everything and wins - that is cheap to do and doesn't require a lot of people blah blah - but in order for companies to exist that have shares you can exploit does require millions of people working doing what looks stupid - why don't they all sit back and let others do the hard work and just own the shares? Well because it wouldn't work if everyone did that. Why isn't every person the surgeon? Because the OR needs nurses and cleaners too. The bottom line is : you can't all be Berkshire Hathaway - they are parasitic. Without everyone else doing what Munger thinks is dumb, BH would be broke.

While Charlie is mostly right here, he was also a billionaire who benefited tremendously from the status quo. When the distribution of wealth overwhelmingly flows towards the richest at the top, of course the wealthy are going to say those at the bottom are ungrateful. It benefits them for you to shut up and be happy with your lot. If your lot improves 20% but the lot of those are the top improves 1000% because of rules that they helped create, you're justified to feel it's unfair.

In all of your investing, don't forget to invest in your soul. Jesus said that he who has riches and is not rich towards God is fool. - Luke 12:20-21 KJV What would it profit a man to win the whole world and loose his soul? Christ came to the world to save us from the penalty of sin which is death in hell - Romans 6:23. Christ for our sins, and took upon himself our punishment so that we could be forgiven snd cleansed from our transgressions. He was buried and rose again three days after to offer us forgiveness. This is the gospel that men can receive forgiveness and be reconciled with God through faith in Christ. - John 3:16-18. You might say what must I do to be saved and have the hope of eternal life with God. You must believe the gospel, and repent of your sins and be born again of thd water and of the Spirit to enter the kingdom of God. See Acts 2:37-38.

I have a significant amount of capital to start with, but I'm unsure about the strategies and direct I should take to help me generate substantial profits like some people are this season.

The law needs to change for lenders. If you only owe 30 or 40 percent of original mortgage, you should be able to self insure. All I've seen and heard is how high insurance has risen to and. virtually no payouts.

I agree with him, he has the fair view between China and India. He agreed with LKY, on the China will be more successful than India. The Chinese learnt and applied. The Indians too learnt, unfortunately, they don't apply. They learnt in the way that they wanted to override what they learnt, that's make them unsuccessful and sadly said they will never be.

The rare defense of some bureaucracy: it's the dead wood that holds up the tree. If you understand how a tree works, it makes sense. The outer layer is the cambium and it does all the work enabling the tree to live. What hidden behind the cambium? The majority of the tree. The dead wood. The stuff of past work accomplished and stored as structural stability. Hollowing out the tree may seem like a good idea until a major stress is felt. Without the mass of the deadwood being allowed to do its job, the tree will fall over. Even though it is very efficient because it got rid of the dead wood..

It should be a wake up call for Republicans as well. The climate catastrophe is real and it is incumbent upon Republicans to prepare a comprehensive plan as to how they will prepare all the various parts of the country for what is just beginning. They can blame Newsom all they want but if they then fail to prepare then they are actually worse because they have been given an example of what not to do and yet did it anyway. I’m not talking about voicing generalities and platitudes but nuts and bolts plans for as many scenarios and contingencies as can be imagined. For instance, let’s say the drought gets so bad that it begins to create food shortages. What will be the plan? Or a hurricane creates a catastrophe so enormous that there is a mass migration inland that stresses the infrastructure of multiple cities. How will that be handled? The handwriting is now on the wall and our “leaders” who are proud of leadership that’s never been tested need to prepare the nation as seriously as if it is a war. Look at the damage in California and if anything looks more like a war it can only really be a war. There’s no time to waste now. F^ck buying Greenland, Canada or the Canal and spend the money where it’s going to be more needed.

Mr Munger can say this because it's his money that he's dealing with. Government departments can't do that because it's tax payer's money they are dealing with. The scrutiny is massively increased, and rightly so, and therefore bureacracy is required to keep these departments accountable.
