This is a great camera, I've bought mine last December to replace the Lumix G9 and it's been great. About the 6k open gate- technically this camera hasn't got a 6k open frame video recording mode, but it does have a burst shot mode (for photography) that will record the whole sensor in 4k or 6k video, depending on your preference, at 30fps for 15 minutes. With sound. Your computer will see the file as an mp4 movie file. I rarely use it for video as I'm primarily a photographer not a videographer but I know it's there if and when I need it and it's perfectly usable. I've set mine to Burst Shot mode II on the top left dial. Take care :)

The G85 contrast detection DFD is vastly superior to the PDAF in the S5ii. The G85 DFD has a little wobble as it figures out the focus. For photography it works OK. When the S5ii autofocuses it is fast and accurate. About 30% of the time it refuses to operate. Even for street photography this is inadequate. The S5ii has the worst autofocus I’ve ever experienced. I don’t know why this isn’t mentioned on review KZbin videos. I’ve tried setting it up several ways with no joy. This is a horrible piece of technology. Paradoxically this is also the most expensive body I’ve purchased. I’m going to sell it and return to M43. At least the autofocus works on those bodies. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

Any time I see a new guitar I want it. Sounds like GAS. I’m that way with cameras and lenses. I recently discovered a 401(k) I didn’t know I still had. I felt rich. I saw a LUMIX S5ii at a good price. I bought that and two lenses after negotiating a bit. I don’t love the camera the way I do my M43 gear. The S5ii autofocus is awful. About 30% of the times it refuses to focus. As a result, the contrast based DFD autofocus on the M43 bodies is much more reliable. Been watching videos on how to set up the camera until my eyes are falling out. Most of the videos are video centric. Lord knows there are a confusing amount of video choices. I use this camera just for photography. As I stated, the autofocus is horrible and inadequate. I’m going to sell this gear and find a camera that will autofocus. I made a terrible mistake purchasing the S5ii. I don’t know why so many people are singing its praise. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)

The Panasonic S -system has one MORTAL FLAW: And that >>MORTAL FLAW<< is that the S cameras do not allow to automatically adjust AUTOMATIC EXPOSURE when using MF or AF/S mode. They lock AE and so when you do a run and gun reportage video or photo your AE is locked to ONE VALUE as soon as you keep the shutter half pressed resulting in over and underexposed photos and footage :) However much I love everything about my S1/S1H/S5II in all practicality they are USELESS ( so have to go back to my Sony ) ... honestly I do not know how Panasonic can get away with such a glitch :) NOT A SINGLE REVIEWER HAS POINTED THIS OUT : D

I know that alot of wedding photographers use only prime glass most also have a second shooter,during the time I photographed events, i worked by myself and if someone wanted video i advised them to hire a second photographer to handle the video end as i worked as a stills photographer. I found using a combination of the 24-70 along with a selection of primes that as a single shooter i could handle all the shots I needed to get, almost every wedding i photographed, the ceremony took place outside so I would start photographing the ceremony from the front and before the ring exchange i would move to an area behind the area that the guests were sitting. When I was able to move more freely as in the reception are i would set my cameras up with prime lenses,

The camera community is single-handedly turning the word ‘value’ into a countable noun, I find this pretty strange. You should update the FW. You can also change the device to start recording once you hit the REC button. And you probably miss that the MIXER screen is not setting levels of the input, it is indeed a mixer for the line out , headphones and the recorded stereo mix. But the gain/trim of the individual tracks are set on the input page. Actually, lovely recorder, close to being perfect. Like your video.

Just bought the S5 witha Sigma 28-70 f2.8. First impressions are really good.

The last Shinobi i saw had got great features but made of poor quality plastic. Nope..! rather spend more for small HD or Portkeys. too bad

With Davinci Denoising you can film at ISO25600 and it will work :D I even done a video generally at ISO51200

Regardless of pricing I have tested this lens and found it to be very good for both stills and video. The only caveat I have is to get the best from it you have to use Panasonic cameras and not Olympus cameras like I do. Oympus cameras have no lens mapping profile to correct artifacts produced by this lens like they do with their own native lenses and doing so in the case of video in post would be crazy time consuming or impossible. Also I found the AF response on Olympus's phase detection bodies I have, the EM1 Mk2 and EM1 Mk3 is inferior to most MSC designated Olympus lenses in both speed and focusing transition. Use it only on Panasonic bodies and you should be fine.

Well obviously you are a videographer so it makes sense that you aren’t aware of all the lenses available for m43 cameras, but there are so many tele lenses that are way more expensive than the 10-25. You can almost buy 4 of them for the price of one Olympus 600mm.

The s5iix is my go to! Sold my fx3 for it and never missed it. 😂 paired with a black magic assist the s5iix top tier. all the negative comments about it being “too digital or too noisey” is bs because I have ppl asking me if I’m using a Blackmagic camera, in their words “the image is amazing and organic” so keep doing what you doing! LUMIX for the win

Haha G85 was my second camera, the FZ300 was first. I still have both of them but don't use them often since upgrading to S5ii.

Sigma 24-70 was first up after buying my S5ii, love that lens. Next was the 35mm 1.8. Recently added the 70-200 f4 and 16-35 f4 which are both amazing. Thanks for sharing your lineup, look forward to seeing more content on the channel!

The 10-25mm has better local contrast than most full frame lenses, it is also sharper than the 15mm f1.7 and 25mm 1.4. When you use this lens with the G9II, you have the best IBIS, excellent rolling, shutter, 4K 120fps with an equivalent 20-50mm FF but with excellent clarity and local contrast, even better than most M43 primes. Small FF zoom lenses like the 20-60mm S are sharp but the local contrast is pretty low. I also own the 24-70mm S Pro and indeed this one is sharper than the 10-25mm but local contrast is the same, I also prefer the colors of the 10-25mm. Maybe the right price for this 10-25mm should be more like 1400$ and not 1800 but this is really a great lens. However the 25-50mm is even better, I never seen a local contrast so high on a zoom lens, the colors with the GH6 are just so good, neither my 24-70mm S Pro on my S5II or my GM lenses with my A7IV are as good. I bought it for 1700$ and never looked back.

I love my s5 it has given me a good introduction to fullframe filming, I have a 24-105 Lumix f4 with the s5 for handheld filming it is absolutely brilliant 😎, the focus is not that dramatic you just have to know the limits of the system and work with it. I switched from a Sony 6500 two years ago, also a great camera. For me the s5 was a great start for filming in vlog 10bit, for my way of filming the stabilizer is more important. i used the s5 with a 35mm Zeiss flektogon which is brilliant in body stabilization. I have the GH6 and now the s5ii. I wanted the s5 but there was a 30 minute limit on 4K60 videos. I love using the GH6. But I noticed the difference in the detail. There's more of it on the s5ii. The colors are about the same. A little more punch on the s5ii. The s5 is cheap now. Maybe I grab it sometime.

I have the S1, S5 and S5II. I use them since their launch. The S5II is a good camera with finally good AF and excellent IBIS, the IBIS is even better than the S1, especially while walking. But seriously, the 4K looks really bad compared to the S1 and S5. The level of details is worse but also the image look oversharpened, like if the camera was upscaling the image from a lower resolution. Even my A7III from 2018 has better image quality. In low light it's even worse with bad chroma noise reduction destroying even more the fine details. The linear profiles are inusable if you plan to crop or zoom a bit in the videos. V-Log is a bit better but still has edge sharpening and rougher details. 6K has good level of details, but with still the bad edge sharpening and chroma noise reduction at high ISO. And it is not because of PDAF, because BRAW (external) has very good image, very similar to the internal of the S1 and S5.

Attention spans are short brother. This video could have been half the length at most. I’m sure you’re proud of your cool open but it should be 10 seconds not 30. I’m subscribing because your personality is great and your information is useful.

What no influencer is telling you- the Lumix S5 picture is better than S5II, it looks much more natural. S5II engine is way too oversharpened, digital and artificial looking, maybe it´s to help the autofocus, i don´t know. You look older on S5II pictures and video because of this digital and oversharpened look and you have less of a 3D effect because of this. For a natural look like on a Canon R8 (inbuild deep pass filter) or Nikon Z6/II for example, you must use a mist filter for the S5II, but this means your autofocus will become much worse as it already is. + the terrible HDMI out delay alone is a nogo and a dealbreaker for many incl. me. just my 2 cents

I got the S5 OG and a Blackmagic video assist 12g for $1,300. It's effectively a Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6k for about half the cost.

the original s5 has no 6k open gate but it has the 6k photo modus. this creates a 10 bit 6k open gate video! you can use it like any other video file
