Good video but mostly unnecessary. First of all there is no reason to pull the handle off and certainly no reason to drive in a roll pin. Simply remove the stock, loosen the set screw as you show but then simply put your finger in the stock, hold down the pin and remove the adjustment pin. While holding down the spring loaded pin insert a small Allen wrench in the hole and reattach the stock to the desired position by applying downward pressure on the Allen key. Once in position simply remove the Allen key. Job done. Driving in a roll pin serves no purpose.

Very good point and thanks for taking time to comment the details which I'm sure will help others with this stock. The pin is not necessary, but it helps by serving a couple of purposes. 1) It keeps the locking pin from rotating (due to vibrations) to the point where you can't put an allen wrench through the hole to adjust the position. 2) It keeps the parts from falling out if the stock is ever removed by someone else or your future self who doesn't remember.

Random question of the day. Does this fit the Springfield Hellion? I live in a communist state and can't stand the fin it comes with
@sparrowdynamics
@sparrowdynamics 5 ай бұрын
We think it would fit the Hellion, but it may not have room for your hand to wrap around. IF it did allow room for your thumb to wrap around (like a pistol style grasp), then it may be an issue in California, because it would allow the web of your hand to be below the top of the exposed portion of the trigger. Please email or call if you have further questions.

Because the onerous laws in CA say that an adjustable stock on a centerfire semiauto rifle with a detachable magazine is an AW. Separating the upper from the lower makes it not semiauto and therefore not an "AW". According to California Code of Regulations, Title 11, Division 5, Chapter 39 Assault Weapons and Large-Capacity Magazines, Article 2, § 5471, (3)

We get it and understand the frustration and appreciate open discussion. There is another side to it we would like to point out. More than 20 years ago, the first and second assault weapons ban in CA completely eliminated the sale of these rifles until some people invented work arounds. If gun stores didn't have these options to put AR's and AK's on the walls, then many (including many of us here at Sparrow) wouldn't have been introduced to them or have seen them as normalized for civilians. Millions of rifles have been sold in CA and millions of new shooters introduced to them over the years because gun stores can and do legally sell them. Improvements in compliant options over the last decade have made these rifles in CA even more popular. But sadly, each time the legislature makes new onerous and unconstitutional laws, we see gun owners moving away from these rifles and looking to bolt action and lever action rifles... THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT! We want more people introduced to shooting, and then understand that "black rifles" are not evil and the importance of the 2A, and how they can help to reverse these unconstitutional laws. We are very close to winning 3+ court cases that will have an impact nation wide. P.S. It is up to the individual how they configure their rifle and how/if they will comply with these laws or not. The few hundred gun stores (which are mostly small family businesses) in CA definitely do not have this choice if they want to keep their business, support their families, and stay out of prison.

@sparrowdynamics
@sparrowdynamics 11 ай бұрын
Yes it is a compliance thing to deal with unconstitutional laws here. Nut shell: In CA, with semi-auto centerfire, you either have to have a fixed magazine, or a rifle without "evil" features. This rifle grip does not meet the DOJ definition of a pistol grip. People in "free-er" states occasionally buy our grip for bench rifles, or for more compact AR pistols (for backpacks, etc.).

They are an uncommon metric size with a larger hole (thinner walls) that we bought in bulk from our fastener dealer. @sparrowdynamics
@sparrowdynamics Жыл бұрын
It might possibly work with the Strike Industries MOD1 stock because there are small holes through the lever. But on a Magpul stock the bent part of the paperclip is in a recessed area where it is impossible to grab it without a tool (which is one aspect that might be important for compliance). It looks like you might be able to remove the paperclip without a tool on the SI stock... we don't know for sure because we don't have one to test. Also, please consider buying a stock made in USA. The Magpul SL-S stock has an even easier way to pin it (video coming soon), and here is a link for pinning a BCM MOD-0 stock that is pretty easy too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6i3YZuHfbGniMk

It worked but it was not easy. I did this on the Magpul CTR. The hole the paper clip has to go thru is partially obstructed. I had to point the paper clip down which means the paper clip had to go up on the other side. I slightly bent the paper clip and by rotating it, it finally came thru the other hole! It was well worth the effort. I looked at buying other "solutions" that cost from $30 to $40 and were mostly out of stock. This is so much better. Thank you!

We figured out after making this video that filing a wedge shape into the end of the paperclip using a fingernail file helps it "cut" past that spring much easier. Glad it worked for you! Once you start shooting, the gun will dig into your bones in your hand. This does not work with my gun because the lack of space and also the ergonomic placement of my AR10, the area where it forces you to put your palm will dig the gun into your palm. Even the stock Strike fin is better because of the issues mentioned above even without the thumb not able to wrap around the stock. Sadly, the best choice for my gun is the Strike Megafin because of the curved thumb rest, paired with a 45 degree short throw ambi safety
