Don't call it innovative. They could have used Bluetooth but instead they require personal information so they can get into the data broker business. All this does is add extra steps and complicate what otherwise would be flipping switches and pressing buttons. As a professional in the industry, these units being used to control the pool from elsewhere in the world is such a rare occurrence. This unit nor that feature are not justified of the over 1,000 price tag

My Polaris VRX IQ+ spent 95% of the time at Leslie's for repair. I bring it home. It cleans for 5 minutes and Error 10 again. Polaris sent me a replacement. The replacement worked for 1 month. After that, same thing. Ongoing repairs and ongoing Error 10. I have no kids, I check my pool levels twice a week with a Taylor Test kit. If the Polaris isn't **attempting** to clean my pool, it stays in my climate controlled garage. Now that I have two Polaris VRX IQ+ they both still spend 99% of the time broken. Today, they both error 10 after cleaning for 5 minutes. I've decided to give up on them both and trash them both today. My suction side pool cleaner is back in the pool again. Permanently this time. I'll never own another Polaris product.

i have a 40x15 and 7x7 (inside that 40x15 area) pool being built. Debating between just getting an all electric heat pump or a dual system that lets me connect propane (my house is all electric). I also have solar panels but they haven’t kicked in yet. Brand new home. What do you suggest for Me? Also in SoCal. I’m worried I won’t be able to use the spa at all in the winter if I go with electric heat pump only.
@SPL2 күн бұрын
You would need a very large heat pump. Maybe the largest they can fit on the pad. I'd say you should be fine in the Winter - it will just take longer to heat that spa.

I have a Pentair 2000 Series filter that makes a sort of gurgling noise and emits a gray cloud out of the skimmer line whenever the pump is turned off. Additionally, I found a broken 1.5" diameter o-ring inside the filter. What could be causing the problem?
@SPL2 күн бұрын
Air is getting in. I suspect the air bleeder on top. Try replacing that. 👍
@myvid222Күн бұрын
@@SPL That plastic tube with a little crown like end with a mesh is fully intact. The o-ring for the manifold at the bottom was replaced because it broke but that did not solve it. The o-ring for the lid does not have any cracks and if it was the cause for the air leak then would it not also cause the lid to leak?
@myvid2223 күн бұрын
According to Pentair, the amount of DE to add should correspond to the filter size with one pound of DE per square foot of filter size.

Maybe. It's not an exact science.

We’ve recently moved to a house with a pool and I wanted to disconnect the Polaris cleaner that was included with the pool. Glad I saw this video. Is there anything else I need to do after I remove this vacuum? Do I need to seal the hole where the vacuum was?
@superwhitt217 күн бұрын
We know the Periodic Products people. My wife took the STAR (Stain treatment and removal) course they offer. We like this process and have had good results. The problem we come across is pricing. To properly treat a 10k gallon pool we start at $400. Some pools need a lot more than just a simple treatment. We have charged as much as $700. While the CuLator is a great device, on severly stained pools we will drain them after pulling metals from the surface then fill using the Fill Fast device from Periodic Products to ensure good, metal-free water is used for filling. We also don't like doing this in the summer as to properly remove stains is a time process. Keeping a pool from going green with 0-1ppm chlorine is hard in the south Florida summer.

@ I’m not a fan of DE filters because it requires backwashing and adding DE powder, which is toxic. The grids are fragile, and the difference in filtration efficiency isn't significant enough to justify DE over cartridge

I can see a Hybrid system work...Meaning a LARGE cloth filter mesh(same used in DE) over the cartridges, and using DE. Also a PRO TIP: If you have a single spot or so on the DE grids, you can easily seal them up with 100% silicon caulking. So in my opinion, the DE cost is lower(8 72sqft grids are about $200). You can also do a manual backflush without the hardware. Maybe a COMBO, 2 filters, a Sand and a DE, or Cartridge. True that every 4-6months I have to spray down the grids to a perfect clean grind, replace and add about 7.5# of DE for 72sqft. Mine is SSteel and about 30 years old. ZERO rust, so far working darn good, with a drain valve, as that bottom manifold needed epoxy to replastic some wear against the metal. DE is not that messy at all through, you can just wash it into the gras, OR use that natrual crushed rock or Perlite, works fine. Cartrdige is easier to work with and why Pool guys prefer it. Im not a young buck either 🙂 LOVE your videos, have helped me a LOT. ALWAYS LOG your work, so you have a reference!! OR keep this channel handy while YT is still available!

One thing I don't see brought up anywhere is switching to a 2-speed motor as an option to a VS pump. The motor will retrofit onto existing single speed pumps. They run at 1725/3450 rpm and are DOE compliant. Two speed motors can be controlled with an automated system (requires 2-speed relay), or electro-mechanical timers, such as Intermatic. A T106 just needs to be added to work in conjunction with the T104, assuming 230V. There are even rear motor covers that have a toggle switch to manually change high/low speeds as needed. Just thought I'd throw that out there as even many pool pros aren't aware of that option.

Two pits almost got to me. I was doing service work in a customer's backyard, who knew I was on property. They were supposed to be secured in the back bedroom when I was there. Fortunately I was near the gate when the dogs bolted out of the house. I got out an instant before the dogs hit the gate HARD. I didn't even have time to latch the gate, just braced myself against it. One more second would have been too late, they would have ripped me apart. That lady is no longer a customer. One time I was bitten by a medium size and a small size dog at the same time. Team work! A few puncture wounds but not much damage. Another time, a dog bit me on the butt. Fortunately he was old and had dull teeth, just a bruise.
