I haven’t been there yet. That and eagle mountain lake are my next 2 hikes. Pretty Falls.

The look on her face at 21:52 was priceless, lol. It seemed she was thinking, "this was our vacation?" We went in for an 18 mile hike from the santa barbara campground and had one of my llamas. He carried 80 lbs and we each carried 35 lbs. We to a trail and climbed 5 1/2 miles the first day. We got a late start and had to sleep right on the trail. Ill be back to the wilderness this fall but taking a nuch easier trail coming from Cowles.

I walked those trails with my Dad, Uncle, and cousins in the mid 80's. Great memories of fishing on Pecos Baldy Lake and walking the Skyline Trail. Thank you for sharing your video.

Is there truly some isolated places to camp? Can you camp anywhere on the 1500 acres you want?
@backyardramblings5 жыл бұрын
You must camp in the designated camping spots. There are a few that are further back that are pretty isolated.

They should. If your going to swim in the lake you need to wear shoes. I grew up fishing and swimming there.

How long of a hike is that from that pavilion. I just dread going back up that gravelly hill on the way back. Not as young as I use to. Senior now, OOOOPS!!! That's quite a hike. I don't think I'll be able to swing it. Good Job.
@backyardramblings6 жыл бұрын
There are a few switchbacks so it's not just a straight up hill hike. Its not terrible.

Planning to try and hike either the Rio Santa Barbara Trail/Middle Fork Trail Loop or the Trampas Lake Trail in late March? Think those would be passable for a good 4-5 day hike in late March?
@backyardramblings6 жыл бұрын
Never hiked those trails. I don't think it would be a problem though.

late March too early-or bring snowshoes
@firedupoutdoors5 жыл бұрын
You likely won't be able to make it in late March. Still too much snow. I've been in Mid May when there was still quite a bit of snow.

Glad I found this video. I'll be up that way in three weeks for a 5 nighter solo. Using your video to scout the area. How many miles to Pecos baldy lake from Jack's Creek TH would you say?
@backyardramblings6 жыл бұрын
+Tim Eubanks 6-7 miles. It's pretty much all up. A bit of flat area before you hit Jack's Creek, all in the sun though.
