Backpacking the Pecos Wilderness. July 2017
We spent 5 days backpacking in the Pecos Wilderness, part of the Santa Fe National Forest and Carson National Forest.
Hiking around 30+ miles, we made a loop starting at Jack's Creek trail head.
The first day we hiked to Pecos Baldy lake. We decided to make the most of it and spent the next day there as well. We attempted to summit East Pecos Baldy, but tried going up the more difficult side. It turned out okay in the end as we found a small group of big horn sheep.
On day 3, we hiked across to the Pecos Falls area and found a spot to sleep for the night.
The morning of the 4th day we hike down to the falls before heading towards Beatty's cabin area to have lunch. After that we hiked past Noisy Brook a little ways and made camp.
Day 5 was spent reminiscing on the last few days as we enjoyed the vistas back towards the car.
