This show was a high watermark for Ruby, and pretty much for all 90s television through its sheer creativity and daring. Discovering Lumley for comedy is something we should be eternally grateful for.

@@linzisouthernwood482 When you're going about your everyday life, and not concentrating, things like that can happen, I've experienced it. But for the purposes of making the story interesting I'm guessing he exaggerated the length of time it took before he realised the truth. Great story though!

As a teenager I went with a school friend to buy wine glasses from a posh kitchenware shop. He asked for two 2/6d glasses. (Old money) The woman said, "Oh. You mean the Paris goblets." in an affected accent. My friend said he would take two. The woman went to the back of the shop and yelled to the woman in the storeroom, "Ethel. Get me two of the two and a kick glasses." (Merseyside slang.) She then handed them to my friend with the words, "Your Paris goblets, sir." We howled all the way home. It is now a family phrase.

I don't live in that lovely little house anymore, from Surrey, to the far west of Ireland. You can see it in my recent video 'Whispers'. I've still got 2 cabinets heaving with candles, but I'm working my way through them, and gifting them too. I do keep meaning to become a 'proper' channel, and upload regularly, thus far it has eluded me, but you never know......! Happy Christmas 🎄.
