Thanks for ALWAYS keeping this online. RHAPSODY IN BLUE was my mom's favoritie composition, by her favorite composer! She played the licorice stick, all through her high school days in band and orchestra. Every time I listen to this, I remember her! <3 <3

Funny story: so, Conan O'Brien has an Armenian assistant named Sona Movsesian. She's VERY proud of her Armenian roots, and on his podcast she recounted the story of the moment she realized that the theme song for Conan's Masturbating Bear character was coincidentally written by one of Armenia's greatest composers, and it's THIS VERY SONG 🤣

I recently had the enormous pleasure of seeing Andrew play in a 'small venue' chamber concert, and I was simply amazed by his musical skill AND by his performance 'persona'. I try to focus as much on the performer as the music itself, because - for me at least - the performer's 'body language' if you will is an integral part of the presentation of the music. So, after seeing him in a fabulous live preformance - where he was so connected to others members of the ensemble and where he seemed to actively share, with the audience, his joy of playing, I decided to look for oither available recordings. Yes, I love this composition to begin with. But, what makes it even better is Andrew's performance.

What better day to listen to Rhapsody In Blue. Today, February 12, is the 100th Anniversary of the debut of Rhapsody In Blue. 1924. Such a masterpiece.

The lyrics is, by the way : (As I see, there is an additional & substantial piece:)

One of my favorite songs, though I neither understand the language nor have I ever been to Bulgaria. I found a translation and its a wonderful poetic story. Simply a perfect match. It was used for the film „ Banshees of Inishirin“ to counterpoint the hard life on the imaginary island.

Many of the best folklore performers in Bulgaria have also sung in the Philip Kutev choir, which is famous as the best national choir. To sing in it is not only a privilege, but also an honor and proof that you can really do it at the highest level. That is why this choir is internationally popular and constantly invited to participate. I bow to these angelic voices of these ladies and wish their lives as easy as this song flows......... What a beauty.
