That's the fastest tempo I've ever heard it played. About had an anxiety attack listening to it. Love this piece!
@danschmeidler9795 Жыл бұрын
started out faster ... it's a nice rendition that's kind of inconsistent. he probably thought of calling it off but then why not go for it eventually adjusted.
@danschmeidler9795 Жыл бұрын
at 2:14 the conductor is already very tame. usually conductor would be more excited but maybe he had to cool it off a bit by then
@adoberoots Жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing - the Berlin Philharmonic rendition (also on KZbin) sounds calm and relaxing after hearing this 😆

Would be cool to SEE the xylophones, etc. playing those octave jumps at the end! Such an exciting piece! I've heard it a million times & it's still thrilling!

Yes lousy directing for sure. Missed out one of the most important instruments used in the piece. Yet showed the trombones over and over, even though they were playing the same 2 notes for many of them.

Funny because it was written in a couple hours at a piano on a whim.

@@rossnaheedy3400 Yep, honestly Ozawa's and Rattle's performance sound way better than this in my opinion.
@rossnaheedy34004 жыл бұрын
@@projeckttea6969 Totally agree. I love Rattle's version, even though things fell apart with the tambourine for a few seconds. Its pace is a bit slower than this performance and it's right on. This whole piece is a beast to play because of timing and staccatos, but it is super fun, as evident by the smiles you see here and there in almost every performance.

Great music, and performance, but the directing was really lousy. I don't need to see the solo trombone make those same two notes each time, while leaving out the wonderful percussionist playing the xylophone for nearly the entire video.

I was 12 yrs old, had played the piano for 5 yrs and was good--but-not this good. My piano teacher gave me--for concert show--Flt. of the Bumble Bee and this one. I quit. Pros are challenged by this-and it is often simplified when it is played now. THis is a great version and thanks for the share. Very special and well done-bravo!

Funny story: so, Conan O'Brien has an Armenian assistant named Sona Movsesian. She's VERY proud of her Armenian roots, and on his podcast she recounted the story of the moment she realized that the theme song for Conan's Masturbating Bear character was coincidentally written by one of Armenia's greatest composers, and it's THIS VERY SONG 🤣

There seem to be two sides to this song when it comes to KZbin: (a) You're watching a Buffalo Sabres game and someone scored a goal for that team. (b) You're in the universe of Tom and Jerry and Tom is totally frustrated by the fact that he can't catch Jerry. However, I am known to see unique things in classical music pieces, so for me it's more like this: (c) It's 1909 and Teddy Roosevelt has just passed the presidency to William Taft. He is expected to continue with Roosevelt's antitrust policies, and he does in fact do so, but no one expects him to end up doing twice as many such lawsuits as Roosevelt in basically half the time in office!
