I went through a different program back in the 90s that ended up being really good, with a true brotherhood. Instead of tragedy, I made lifelong friends. Sad that things like this exist for people that need help.

@@TemiraLitalI am working on a piece about Kristen and this douche-nozzle due out tomorrow (on a separate channel). I am hoping I can link my subscribers to your channel, if that’s okay. I’d email privately, but I’m on my mobile. I’ve been researching these programs for a while and this footage adds so much perspective to the legal docs I’ve read. My uncle was the pilot for the rescue helicopter that Cartisano refused to call to save Kristen and testified for the prosecution during the court case. He is still haunted by the fact that he wasn’t given the chance to save her or tell his story about what he saw. He is still upset that Cartisano escaped those charges. After reading the legal docs, I truly believe Steve was an evil human being. I wish the best for you and all his victims.

very funny ever hear paris hilton? this is a leftover of the satanic panic which was a misnomer itself. very funny i remember seeing older kids doing drugs and they turned out perfect. how come movie after movie bsad on this is about abuse at the camps and these kids complaine? it used ot be blamed on rock and roll and television. kisds cite abuse movie of the week. many kids played heavy metal records and the parents didnt complaine and the kids were good. its funny in the mormon church being told NO all the time while others were told yes. ever been to a mormon household and wee them watching an R rated movie? this becomes a cliche. you wont believe the ingorance of others when you have t explaine that people say "I fucked your mother" and got away with many bad things EGGS and the parents dont care!!!! i remember dateine i think where at these camps HOLES MOVIE THINK if you dehydrate in arizona and vomit, they make you eat the vomit. one kid passed out was taken to a hotel unconcious and was thrown in the shower turned on the water and drowned!!!! blame rock and roll and television. many kids did bad things and got away with it and turned out normal and the parents were 60s generation fuckups!!!! many kids were told yes and they turned out fine!!!!!!!!!!!!! blame rock and roll music

This is all a lie, the kids were never on drugs. It was a scam to get money. I was kidnapped to the Hawaii Challenger program after Utah because he was never caught. The FBI found us and took them to jail. Steve was never there he hired men and a guy with nazi tattoos to run the program. Me and the rest of the kids endured extremely harsh and unsafe, and mentally abusive conditions. Thank god one of he wives of the sailors spoke to us kids and we told her we were all kidnapped. She informed the Hawaii police and the FBI flew out to us on the secluded island and we were rescued in a helicopter. It is sad that they will never pay for the damage they caused. It is unthinkable for that to happen now to children and get away with it. It makes me sick.

I was there back in 89 when the program was still new. The concept was very positive but there was abuse in many ways. I don't think that the parents knew what they were sending us to. It definitely was no "summer camp". It was run by a bunch of ex military guys that tried their darndest to change us instead of trying to guide us. Definitely an experience that I will always remember.

Ugh. When will parents accept that raising their kids is THEIR responsibility alone? If your kid is unruly, that's a risk you take when you procreate. Many teens act crazy. Sending them off to a labor camp is purely selfish & irresponsible. Go to a parenting class, get some therapy & learn how to communicate with your kid. Don't wanna do that? Don't reproduce.
