For some cats, no amount of words can explain them, they're just... cats.

Hello! I am collecting information about the planet Earth for the benefit of my homeworld. I must say your videos are very informative and easy to follow. I encountered a situation with an human that left me perplexed. The human informed me that Steve Jobs had tragically died from ligma. Would you help me clear up this misunderstanding, and please make a video to explain the identity of Steve Jobs?

Ah, an Earth Explodes fan! Thanks for reminding me of my neglect. The websites broke and were poorly optimized for phones anyway so they've been low priority to fix. Maybe I should just make an Instagram account and post them there.

Enjoyed it. The choices maybe depends on how deep and effective the memory removal is. We have different types of memory, and some experiences create conditioned responses which work different from short or long term memory, so even if one has their memory wiped of a billion years of torture, the effects of said trauma could remain with all sorts of now inexplicable PTSD conditioned reactions and triggers (e.g. the sudden appearance of a whole set of new phobias like say of spiders if any were used repetitively as part of the torture)

Would I rather watch this video or gain the memory of having watched it? Here's something I've been grappling with recently: I don't remember most of the stuff I watch on youtube. Was it worth watching it? Should I stop watching it? What do I get after watching a video? Older?

i myself would take experience on the ice cream one since it counts for only 1 of many ice cream experiences so missing out on 1 memory of actually eating it while having eaten it is imo better then thinking you have eaten but actually havent

The migraine pill one. What if instead of 1 bad day it was a chronic illness for which you've suffered that they want to cure before it starts. I for one have had tinnitus and other head aches and pains for years now. And I would love to forget about all the times I suffered over the years. But I for one know it could drastically change choices I made in life. So having a proper painkiller that'll cure me of my tinnitus right this second would be soooo much better. To never suffer again in the future. The cost of such a pill or wish might effect things on some scale.

I would eat the ice cream and lose my memory. I don't want to spend the rest of my life (and afterlife) chasing the dragon of the perfect unobtainable ice cream. Also, what the heck is a groundhog?

The thing about the demon is that the memory might very well trigger PTSD, but the memory whipe would erase the experience in what we assume is an infinite existence.

That's why I included the caveat of "no psychological trauma, no PTSD". It's a little contrived but the thought experiment doesn't work without it.

I once experienced something years ago that might have been something similar to a time loop. I went to a place called "Iron Gate Trail Preserve" in Illinois with some friends close to sunset. I separated from the group for a moment and found a bench overlooking a lake and facing the sunset. I sat there for what felt like less than a minute, but in that minute I saw the sunset proceed much faster than it should have and then right as the last light was seen over the horizon I saw the sun rise from where it should have been setting. As I watched that I started to hear voices calling out for me shortly before the sun returned to where it was before I sat down and I felt like I couldn't move, or rather than I didn't want to move, but eventually pulled away and turned my head to call out. One of my friends approached and asked where I was. I said, "Right here" and I was told that I was missing for an hour. I said that it couldn't have been more than a few minutes. A few years later I went back there, but the trees were cut and the bench was gone. I went to the other side of the lake in the woods and took a picture of the area which showed a pillar of light. Granted, not a true groundhog day loop, but I did experience time speeding up and then moving in reverse before returning to normal so in a sence I repeated the sane duration of time.

It's not so horrible if you don't remember experiencing it before. It's only as horrible as the bad experience normally is. And some people are having good days, or just ordinary neutral days.

There may not be a past at all, just a collection of subatomic particles that came into existence in the right formation with the right information to generate a memory of the past. The Planck scale might be the only real measurement of distance and time between the particles that make you think you’ve had a past and the boundary of the universe on the edge of which is just enough particles with just enough information to make you think that there’s a whole universe. The universe might just be a loop of time in which the information changes just enough to make it seem like the universe exists and has time.

So the Bill of the planck hog day would feel continuous movement of time while everything around him is frozen. But doesn't it take time for air to move. So assuming he was in normal atmosphere, there would never be enough time for any of the air around him to ever move out of the way. He'd be conscious of his own time passing, because he would accumulate the memories of his own thoughts, but he wouldn't be able to move. And if he was in the loop of that planck moment, but no one else was, they'd all carry on. If he doesn't degrade and he spends a thousand years in that frozen moment, then he joins reality, would he look back on it as a mental glitch and just not worry. Would he eventually never believe or even remember that he'd spent a thousand personal years stuck in one spot. Interesting thought experiment.

This has similar implications to the simulation hypothesis. If we're living in a simulation, time outside need not relate to time inside. A second might take a billion years to render, or a billion years might take a second. Groundhog Day would just be "reload previous save file" for the simulation. Also, we could be paused at any time and never know it. You could be in the middle of a sentence or taking a piss and suddenly paused for a million years and then resumed without knowing.
