As a former police officer, i have been many homes with numerous animals, especially cats. Very often the people began to lose it mentally. I truly believe the constant stench of cat urine and feves is toxic.

As a kid watching this, I thought this guy has such high morals...I wanted to be just like him...I use to mimic his body gestures and behavior like sometimes placing my hands in my pocket....

“Leavin’ in a cah, right?” Linda chuckled, “Yeah, in a cah-because who needs the ‘R’ in Jersey?” They both cracked up, and Linda added, “If I can find where it’s pahked!” Their laughter filled the room, the accent banter just part of their everyday fun, the way friends in Jersey do.

Little Edie is such a giver, you can really tell she provided the will to keep going not only for herself but for her mother as well, her decorating her pink room with wall art while everything else is chaotic is truly poetic and shows her willingness to shine and remain bright through the darkest time.

I was mistreated by a resentful stepdad as a kid and my dad was the only normal, good thing in my life then. I hated being away from him. Mr. Rogers was like a hero to me and took the place when my dad couldn't be there. He gave me reassurance that there was still good decent people in the world.

this documentary is moving. it reminds me of my mom and sister. they would share a bedroom, live day to day in messes and be so tied up in their own world that they had no sense of reality. they always defended each other and made me out to be crazy when i was the only rational person in the house. i left and it was the best choice i ever made. if i stayed in that house with them my whole life would’ve been held back

5:23 "Do you think my costume looks alright for Brooks?? He seemed a little amazed, you can't be too careful." People love quoting Little Edie with that one phrase "It's very difficult to keep the line between the past and the present." Whenever someone quotes Edie saying that past and present line, they always fail to mention that she was referring to how her Black male gardener may want to somehow harm her because of her revealing costume. It's not some profound quote It's backwards and ignorant, especially seeing how Brooks wasn't paying her any mind at all.🙄

How people think this movie is racist is just absurd. It was made by a Jewish director without a racist bone in his body, about an American who has befriended a Chinese boy and who spends 2/3 of the frachise battling Nazis.

Why didn't their extremely wealthy relatives hire staff to keep the house up when they saw that it was too much for Big Edie to handle? Her son's could have hired a few people to tend the house for their mother whom I'm certain fought tooth and nail to raise them and keep herself together after her pos husband abandon her!

Alot of these comments dont know or understand the context behind this relationship dynamic , both woman were victims of a time and class structure which presented very narrow choices for them. Also keep in mind that Big Edie supported LE for decades after she moved out. LE had alot of mental health issues and moved back home, by then most of the money had gone.
