I got diagnosed with Graves and Hyperthyroidism last month after thyroid storm fever of 103 and cardiac arrest. I am currently in the hospital now waiting to have a total thyroidectomy this coming Wednesday and I am so nervous and sad to lose my thyroid. 😢 I have liver damage from anti thyroid meds and can’t do radiation. I have nodules. Thanks for sharing your story. I just had a baby in May so I have to stay here! 🙏🏼❤️You gave me hope. It is sad to go through this. Much love! I hope you are still feeling good! You’re so brave!

My symptoms are not too bad but I have had Graves’ disease and recurring hyperthyroidism every few years after coming off carbimazole since 9 years ago. My doctor is saying because it has relapsed a few times now I need to do RAI or surgery. I don’t know what to do, I don’t want to do either of those and wondering what would happen if I just don’t take medication and don’t do either RAI or surgery

I had a full thyroidectomy. After the surgery I was automatically kept in the hospital even thought they kept all my para thyroids to make sure I was producing enough calcium. I was blood tested every 2 days in the hospital before I was released. That was all an insurance thing to release you fast from hospital because insurance didn't want to pay for your stay. Did you do radioactive iodine therapy? My thyroid was cancerous.

On my 3rd thyroid test it finally came back hyper… I’m currently waiting for antibodies to come back to see if it’s graves. I started getting symptoms 3 years ago after I gave birth to my 2nd… my current doctor doesn’t believe it’s related but I DO!! I know it’s all thyroid related and I know when I’m in a flare up unfortunately by the time I see a doctor because it takes over a month to see one where I live my symptoms subside. But this last flare up was the worst and showed on my blood work. I don’t understand why all doctors don’t add the antibody test automatically to the thyroid panel! I hear rarely some doctors do.. but I feel I could have had answers a lot sooner. My joints hurt so bad, every single day for 3 years straight. I am chronically fatigued no matter how much rest I get. I get soo angry and short tempered now I scare myself. My eyes have been changing I joke around with friends that I’m becoming the opposite of cross eyed (didn’t know it was related), I can’t breathe even tho I workout, can’t gain weight (everyone tells me I’m sooo LUCKY to eat like this and not gain!) I went to see a new doctor obgyn to check my hormones because I thought that’s what it was.. I flare up during ovulation and then during period… she said let’s do thyroid panel too and I told her I did one already about 5 months prior but she said it’s okay let’s try again… and it came back abnormal this time.

Hey bethany! Thank you for sharing your experience with us❤ My name is julnar and I'm having the same exact experience right now! Hyperthyroidism and graves😢 I noticed my left eye lid is dropping recently🥲, I thought I was the only one who is noticing this symptom (May I ask If the eye lid went back to normal on itself?) I'm going to do the neck surgery soon...but what's making me anxious is the eye bulging part..I live in syria & I don't think there's good doctors enough to do an eye surgery.. And my marriage is coming soon💔..I'm 29 and have always been extremely healthy and this happened to me out of nowhere this is what's making me feel shocked😪 Wish u the best❤ please keep posting updates, it feels good to listen to someone who understands what you are going through

I was diagnosed last October. I’ve been on Methimazole since. My right eye is drooping also. My left eye has a lot of puffiness hiding my eye lid and tear duct, along with puffiness on my cheeks. My hair has thinned and I’m losing more hair than ever. New hair growth is curly even though I’ve had straight hair all my life. My blood pressure and pulse are much lower since I’ve been on propranolol. The blood test last month showed my tsh is now high and t3 and t4 are low. I was already on decaf coffee. I’m still tired, anxious and hungry all the time. I’ve gained 25lbs now. But I was only 98lbs when diagnosed.

Girl thank you for this!!! I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism a few months ago and it is so trying!! No one seems to understand this, and my mom keeps telling me that I am just lazy! I was lucky enough to get diagnosed early on, I felt such a bad headache and got diagnosed afterwards. My symptoms consist of mainly tiredness and fatigue and a crazy appetite. I am tired by 12 pm no matter how much sleep I get. My blood pressure and heart rate is balanced right now, but I am still very tired and from time to time I feel like I am about to get a panic attack. My thyroid is still not balanced so I went through a hypo phase in which I gained tons of weight and slept most of the day. But it’s taking a toll on me mentally, I just don’t feel validated by my family, they are making me feeling like I am lazy and whiny whereas I am so tired, weak and anxious…

@@AmberAsburyGD Hey girl, I don't know if you've gotten this diagnosed and straightened out yet, but your mom may not be totally wrong... Not that she knows what she's talking about necessarily, but there could be something to it, because there are many environmental toxins and other factors that can contribute to thyroid problems, such as parasites (it can't hurt to get checked for this) or toxic mold in the home, or other triggers that can tip your immune and/or endocrine systems into a hyper- or hypo- thyroid condition. I suggest anyone who suspects these kind of problems gets checked over thoroughly, including antibody testing for autoimmune problems in addition to thyroid panel, toxins, and yes even parasites. I had a very scary series of events to deal with when my dear cousin had a hyperthyroid storm and nearly died... I'm still trying to take care of her because the doctors don't know everything, and she is very stubborn.

I had RAI for Graves and beat it and I was already tested for mold two times, so yes she is just crazy and needs help with her own issues.

I have Graves disease too I took an online class by a doctor who revealed a connection between heavy metals lead and/or mecury in the body. Ive had amalgam fillings in my teeth for years, and they reportedly contain mercury, which can cause many of the symptoms I am having, like extreme fatigue, brain fog, vision problems, achy eyes. So I am looking into treatments for detoxing from these heavy metals. There are a lot if natural products out there. Also, I'm hoping to get those amalgam fillings replaced with a composite.

I have this exact same thing! Graves and hyperthyroidism. Did they not remove the whole thyroid for you? It sounded like you still have a parathyroid gland from it. Did you not throw up a lot during the thyroid swell? :0 I used to throw up a loooot. I had surgery in 2019 and I just recently had my eye surgery to reduce the pressure in my eyes. I am sooo curious about more of your journey! :) love hearing about this, I don’t feel so alone. <3

Someone commented on another hyperthyroidism post about reversing the condition by taking L carnitine so I googled that. Surprised to see information about it. I've been diagnosed as pre clinical hyperthyroidism and Low vitamin D. The itchiness is horrible, the sleeplessness, heart rate, loss of weight no matter what we eat oh gosh the feeling of racing, and feeling of instability/shaking... Thanks for sharing this, much love to you
