Much better results to buy a brand new LED fixtures. Retro bulbs are of poor quality and poor light output. A brand new LED fixture will give much better light distribution pattern.

do you need the shunt? or can you just hook up straight to the meter
@RchelicopterfunКүн бұрын
Must use a shunt. These types of volt/current meters will handle up to 10A max, anything more (which a full size R2 build will certainly draw), requires a current shunt.

Ive watched through this playlist several time and love it. Great information, and fun. I have subscribed to Mr Baddeley on Patrion, but god knows what files i need to print. Is there a list anywhere that you used? Any help would be awesome... 👍🏻
@Rchelicopterfun2 күн бұрын
I used the Printed Droid Print Guide for the primary parts list as I mentioned & link to in the very first video of this series (The Introduction Video). That said, there is of course no specific one size fits all file list because it depends on what options you want on your build, what specific version you want to print and how you want to build it. There are endless options on these builds so Michael has kindly provided lots of files. Even depending on what size printer you have will dictate what files will and won't fit. His instructions also cover what specific files are used for certain assemblies. I also spent hours looking at various files in my slicer program after downloading to determine which I wanted/needed to print based on my specific build and requirements. Enjoy your R2 build!

@Rchelicopterfun thanks for the reply John... I've just downloaded those files and have the Sovol 6 plus, but it's just that all the files I seem to find seems to be all over the place. Some cut files here, some in other folders done by someone else. I'll get there! I plan to start in January here in the UK, and have a full time job, so thinking 9 months to a year if things go to plan. Your build is stunning John, one of the best I've come across. I'd be happy to have a build anywhere near as close! Thanks again John. You may hear from me again! 😁👍🏻❤️

So knowing the fronts are decently well balanced by no wobble/vibration in the steering wheel, you could of course do a same side rotation bringing the rear wheels to the front, and putting the front wheels to the rear, then do the same drive again and test for steering wobble/vibration from the steering, assuming of course the wheels/tires are all the same size. If you have all same size wheels/tires, but you have wheel identification TPMS, place the rear wheels on the front, drive and test them for wobble/vibration in the steering, assuming none was found, do a same side rotation, then another drive and test for wobble/virbration, assuming none was noticed, you've tested all four wheels, the wheels/tires/TPMS are now on their correct hubs, and you're done. I wish I had the space for all this equipment, I'd be doing my own stuff, but sadly lack of storage space and work space means I work out on the street and in a tiny little alleyway. :(
@Rchelicopterfun4 күн бұрын
Yep, during the seasonal tire rotation, the rears (now on the fronts) are just as smooth and vibration free through the steering wheel. 🙂

We grew up doing it this way on our farm, except we didn't have a tire changer. We'd remove the valve stem, then run over the sidewall of the tire to break the bead and then use a prybar and a long handled screwdriver to coax the tire off the wheel. When we'd buy tires the folks at the store always seemed miffed that we were going to balance and mount them ourselves, trying to talk up their spin balancers and how much better they were. Pappy just said, folks have been using bubble balancers since there have been steel rims and they work just as well now as they ever did, lol.

Hello and thank you for useful video! I have calibrated the FC indoor and outdoor. It stopped blinking red in both cases. There is no warnings in desktop app. But when I try to arm it - it flashes yellow, even there are 16 sats and HDOP 0.78 (indoor and outdoor). No low voltage. What I should do to get blinking green instead yellow and what could cause this problem? Thank you!

Bummer...the tire changer in the link only covers up to 16". The tires on my F-250 are 20". 😏
@Rchelicopterfun5 күн бұрын
The manual tire changer has nothing to do with maximum wheel size. Working wheel size is dictated by the duckhead mod radius arm length. These are after all 20" wheels in this video and this specific duckhead mod I use with a 13" radius arm will do up to 24" wheels. I also covered this in the one year manual tire changer top tips update video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3-naaGVdteBiNEsi=UKETirpaOpcSvaaN

This was before pneumatic tire changers and spin balancers. If you have alloy wheels, low profile wheels, or expensive, custom wheels, don't use this. Also, it doesn't work with wheels that require sticker weights.

Problem is, there are very few "pros" left; difficult to find caring techs & shops anymore. Most shops now give tire services to their least trained, lowest paid 1st year apprentices, rushing as many hours through the shop to maximize profit while sacrificing quality and attention to detail, unnecessary upsells, bait & switch tactics, etc. I've just had too many of my costly alloys over recent years damaged by these so called pros, and finally said enough of this nonsense as demonstrated in the tire shop wheel scratch video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/np-TiZV-nNuhfLs If you have a good tire shop/tech - count yourself very fortunate and treat him/her like unobtanium.

Question: Can the duck head mod be installed on the harbor freight version tire remover?
@Rchelicopterfun6 күн бұрын
Most likely yes, but suggest you review the video in the series that covers the duck head mod in detail so you know exactly what to confirm (center post diameter specifically) and then purchase or make your duck head mod for your specific manual tire changer be it HF or any of the others. I'm sure 90% of the duck head mods being sold will fit just fine, but always check with the seller first or confirm post diameters if building your own.
I'm more scared of all the idiots texting and focusing what little brains they have on their infotainment touch screens, but that's just me.

Wonderful video, this and your others in the "tire change" series! Thank you for taking the time to show all the steps you took. That last bit here, where you refinished the paint on both inner lips as part of the repair: You _did_ need to paint that, not just for appearance's sake. The spot putty used - the talc used in it will pull moisture in, if not sealed. Since it's at the wheel/bead interface, it would get exposed to moisture, and could become porous enough to water that it becomes one of those pesky glacial-creep slow leaks owners and tire guys HATE alike. So, good on you being thorough, and it sure looks like the result is invisible at distances past being stooped down to read the tire sidewall! :)
@Rchelicopterfun7 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comments. I did hit those inner surfaces with clear (7:58 ), knowing they had to be sealed to prevent future corrosion, however, my OCD got the better of me so a squirt of color had to be used. 🙂

I think I'm going to do it. I have the 20" 4Runner wheels with the mixed machining and black/silver paint, which are still perfect at 38k miles, and I don't trust the dealers in my area or any of the tire shops to not mark up the wheels.
@Rchelicopterfun7 күн бұрын
I hear ya! Almost seems it's a given now at least one wheel will get scratched. One little bit of advice if you decide to go this route would be to first practice on a "lesser" valued wheel/tire if you can. Might just take a little of the "learning stress" out of the equation. My first use of this thing was on a set of Mercedes 20" wheels with 45 series tires. I was sweating bullets on the first one until I found my "groove". It still went OK, but wish I would have practiced first on something both easier and less costly.

My favorite Christmas toy I ever received as a kid. The drive spring solder joint inside the helicopter broke on mine shortly after I got it, and my stepfather had no idea how to resolder it. If only they had cheap plug-in transformers back then because the damn thing went through 4 D-cell batteries in no time at all.

OMG I just found this. I also had a vertibird in the early 70s so fun! I forgot all about it until now. I recall playing with it in our living room. My Nana just arrived from the airport for a Christmas visit, walked in the front door and before she could put her luggage down, she walked right into the path of my vertibird at near full throttle and got nicked in the shin. That was the end of the vertibird for the duration of her visit. Amazing what the human brain can recall with a video prompt. Awesome childhood memories.

Very nice! Dumb question.....do you save enough money to justify the cost of the tools?
@Rchelicopterfun10 күн бұрын
No such thing as a dumb question. Answer, I've paid for this equipment at least 5X over in the past 20 months. So yes it most certainly has justified the cost not to mention all the time it has saved me and the wife driving 600km round trip to the city each time we need any tire work. Of course, this type of thing really has nothing to do with saving money as I covered in the description. For most of us doing this type of work, like any DIY project, it's to be self reliant, learn a new skill, have fun, and do a better job as was explained in part 4 video of the series - repairing careless tire shop wheel damage (which I have found in every single wheel I've done so far).
