This appears to be using the same 150 V3 protocol so should be able to bind to EdgeTX radios. I used your instructions for the E-Sky 300 binding to bind my 150 V3 Airwolf, and with a few tweaks, I was able to get it to fly consistently using the RadioMaster T16 radio. Might be worth mentioning for anyone that likes using better radios with these micros or simply doesn't want to have a bunch of RTF radios hanging around when one can rule them all.

Very good and detailed review as always. I like the Esky helis. They're durable, tuning via CC3D port is possible and the lighter ones (150 X & XP V2) fly really nice. And the V2's & V3's work with a multiprotocol module.

I can't believe it's flying that well in that degree of wind. Pretty amazing. Thinking of ordering one of these through a third party vendor. I can' see any mention of high rates being non altitude hold though, but the photos indicate it is the same helicopter. Do you know anything about this? Thanks. Edit: I got this in, it is Esky branded, and seems to perform ok, but it does not have the windows in it...open windows into the helicopter instead of being plastic "windows" in them.

Collective pitch (what the M1 is) is a very steep learning curve, even for adults. There is fundamental learning curve that has to be followed. If going to an RC heli club and learning from an instructor, then it's doable, but a youngster self learning collective pitch on their own is rarely successful (unless you too are a collective pitch RC helicopter pilot to instruct him). You never mentioned what RC helicopter experience he might already have, also never mentioned age. In my experience as an RC heli instructor, 14 years old seems to be where kids can start understanding the concepts of collective pitch physics and electronics and how to fly them, but of course every child is different. If you feel CP is too daunting at this time, then yes, this Esky 150 EC heli would likely be fine. I had a little larger heli like this but with full 3d control but was never able to get it to hower, it would immediately fly to the side and crash every time you tried to take of... I think the stabilization it had build in must have been broken. After 20 attempts at taking of it finally broke a one of the pins for the rotor and that was that... it never did fly again after that.

How much dead -zone in the pitch & yaw department on the transmitter ? K127 followed up by a K110s would be my go - to for anyone starting out , even though 127 trannie has too much of the dreaded transmitter / dead- zone / delay ( for accurate indoor hooning anyway ) Thanks for putting me onto the 110s and making the Blade 230s look docile by comparison, , I think ...

Very little dead-band on yaw (rudder stick). A little more on cyclic (pitch & roll). I would say a good amount for beginners new to single rotor as their stick centering skills are a little shaky. Dead-band on this by the way is not in the transmitter, it's in the electronic FBL system in the heli to ignore less than perfect stick centering. When paired to a good radio, you get the exact same deadband and the only way to get rid of it is to program in deadband eliminating curves/similar on cyclic.

@cjb405 Don't Know? ☹ The powers that be grounded my entire over 250g heli fleet most of this year. First MAAC (Model Aeronautics Association of Canada), grounded all their members last December while we lost our Transport Canada RPAS exemptions and then every MAAC field had to be re-sanctioned by the SAG (safety advisory group). Because our field operates at the small airport here (CAH4), the re-sanctioning process was even more involved & complicated. I spent months on it, submitting full size aerodrome usage reports, aerodrome site & airspace surveys and classifications, redoing all our site rules etc. and I finally got it re-approved by MAAC beginning of June along with getting our site insurance coverage back. Was able to get a couple weeks of flying in (the roban 800 of course being one of them) before the heatwave and unprecedented drought in BC/Western Canada once again grounded RC/RPAS operations at the airport (no RPAS flying allowed when the forest fire danger is rated extreme). The smoke is so chokingly bad here anyway now, it's also below MAAC's & Transport Canada's minimum visual requirements most days and miserable to be outside. Scary how quickly global warming is changing things here.

I feel your pain its bureaucracy gone mad! Id have thought the MAAC wud have been more helpful if they want to keep memberships levels up. Well done u for doing the leg work to get re sanctioned. But yes shame about the forest fires etc. In uk we now need a flyer id and operator id if a plane is over 250g! It angers me as potentially puts off many from the hobby. And all brought about in part by irresponsible actions of a few vs the many safe flyers out there! Hope u get in the air again soon👍

Full size EC/H135 is 10.2m long (version dependent variations of course). This model is 179mm long. Therefore, scale is about 1:57.
