Vinyl windows are the longest most expensive snake oil in the history of snake oil. And foam will absolutely improve the user experience by noise reduction. So say what you want about air gaps. But if the frame has no foam sound can pass right through. Use your loaf.

Jay I just bought luminated glass but the glass is 1/4 , I think the company did not explain about the size of the glass that I need for my infront windows 😊

I sell windows. The main way a consumer can know if its a quality windkw is look at the warranty. The back side is where all the exclusions will be. A better built and installed window will have a lifetime parts and labor warranty and only exclude acts of god, which wouldn't be fair to make a window company pay fir anyway. Most sales people will not actually show you theres warranty. Theyll just say it has a lifetime warranty. Read the fine print.

Great video. For anyone wondering what brand, it's on the door behind him. Provia is the company, and they make exceedingly good doors - you get what you pay for, and in this case you get quality. Pella use them, so do independent contractors. It's either the Embarq or Signet line (Embarq are the really thick doors with the extra seals on the right, Signet is the one in the middle on the table in front of him). The glass design in the door is a decorative one called Carmen, using 'waterfall' pattern privacy glass (they also do art glass where you can choose the color accents to match your siding or window shutters or your flowers). I just went on their website and 'mocked' up a few doors with sidelights. Different looks, colors, sidelights, amount of glass, design of the glass, types of glass, doorknob and lock hardware finishes. It's step-by-step, you can add a storm door as you're going along (they come in various colors too, not just white) and it takes a few minutes. Then contact someone like Jay, talk through your ideas, get a price, and get a door that might just outlive you!

Instead of using expensive metals why dont they use steel and have it galvanized. Fyi your content is awesome and probably under rated. I cant believe this is the only comment considering how much window's cost to have installed.

[low e glass probably has negative health effects and/or will start a fire outside everyones houses with some sort of sun simulator burst or something like that. the gabberment always pushes things for nefarious reasons. ALWAYS]

Hell ya. Educating customers is #1. Its amazing how many manufacturers will walk through the motions of building a good window, but intentionally ignore crucial details leading to failure in a short period of time. Other examples are gas injection and the use of foam spacers.

At 6:30 there is a picture of a double hung window with significant condensation. In your comments on the window you describe it as having "roomside" condensation, however that window has exterior condensation, not roomside.

Not all doors are created equal, a home depot door "single entry door" by Feather River or MP will run you $500-$1000, same would be said for a single door for Thermatru at Lowes for $750. Now go compare a door from Provia, Thermatru or Captiva and a single door now cost $5K+, double doors cost $10K+, door with sidelites cost $8K+. were talking a differnt animal. you start to learn about a door once you buy it, go look at your door and see if it has a bull nose or its flat edge door. Lets not forget if you want special glasses for lighting and privacy, this bumps up the price. the average person has a $1k door or less. you'll know a good door quality when you seen one, and once you do, you know that door started at the prices I said. live and learn

Actually there are four conditions that must be met, not two. Glazing in an individual fixed or operable panel that meets all of the following conditions: 3.1. The exposed area of an individual pane is larger than 9 square feet; and 3.2. The bottom edge of the [exposed] glazing is less than 18 inches above the floor; and 3.3. The top edge of the [exposed] glazing is more than 36 inches above the floor; and 3.4. One or more walking surfaces are within 36 inches, measured horizontally and in a straight line, of the glazing.

Every demo can be rigged. You could test drive a car and then while you’re signing the paperwork, the dealer could trade it out with a lemon of the same make and model. Another example is based on Jay Johnson saying the important thing is to look at the spec sheets of each company and compare you factor and our value, but someone ordering your windows could easily tell you that they are ordering you a glass package with low E coating and argon gas, but pocket the additional money and order you clear glass without argon. Most of these videos are informative but some are simply to trash any and everyone selling windows. A company representative can show you a binder of scientific data of each product or you could do your own research but at some point, if you’re not standing in the factory watching each step of your windows being manufactured and then installing your own windows, then how can anyone be 100% sure they are getting what they’re being told they paid for?

Anderson has the E series blinds built in the windows. Worth the price only for a large main window. Not worth it for the entire house. We did it for our 110" L long window of casement, picture, casement. Rest of the house used 400 series. So worth it and there is no blind or shades that long that will give you a clean look and dust free. Choose your options.
