I had my car *READY TO DRIVE* a couple months ago when we noticed something not quite right with the new (used) transmission. Called the company up, and they were super helpful. immediately identified the issue and what we needed to do to correct it. Then when we were ready to send them money for parts, they practically disappeared. Took a couple weeks to get an order written up. Then another week for them to ship it. Then once it arrived it was missing half the parts. Then another week to get the missing parts.... Custom car stuff already takes FOR. EV. ER. It takes even longer when you're waiting for parts :(

Replace the harmonic balancer for sure while is is out of the car. They tend to separate. Summit makes a nice SFI one. You're right the 04 ls1 should have the ls6 intake. Looks fun. Going with link for the ecu? Also think about putting an oil block while it is out so you can run an oil cooler.

There are plenty of data channels you can show within Racechrono. For pedal data, you would want to look for Throttle position. This is dependent on car and how fast it can communicate with the obd2

I had to replace valve covers THRICE!!!! finally went with an aluminum version vs the plastics, and so far so good. My engine compartment did smoke quite a bit with the leaking oil; it was pretty obvious as far as seeing the oil seeping up onto the cover and at times even dripping down the side. Get a VQ37VHR motor! A few upgrades such as cams with a tune and you'd be making around 350whp n.a.

I had smoke coming from the right side of the engine due to leak from under filter sandwich plate (for the oil cooler). Some of the leaking oil was somehow ending up on the exhaust due to airflow.
