This breed takes other animals down by their ears. If you own multiple Cane Corso it helps prevent ear injuries. I have multiple clips from Facebook groups where people kept their ears and they posted ear injuries and regretted not cropping. If you only have one Corso there isn't as much benefits to cropping the ears. There is people who argue to crop also prevents ear infections. In nature, dog ears are always errect, floppy ears are apparently man made. Dogs are put under for ear cropping and are fine after. It is absolutely barbaric if anyone chooses to do it otherwise and sadly some people do. Amazon even has a kit. I do think cropping will go away though as it is no longer being taught in veterinary schools and it is already banned in Europe. I think as long as its done by a vet it is very humane and prevents injuries if you have multiple and ear infections.

@@Dogdayshomestead Thanks for your reply, btw I didn't mean any malice with my question. We currently have a white rescue Bully X with cropped ears, she was apparently imported from the USA into the UK (England) 5 years ago, I don't know who cropped her ears but they did not do such a great job but I have seen a lot worse. One thing I have noticed compared to my XL bully who had his full ears, I do find I need to keep a close eye on the amount of dirt that gets into her ears. Because ear cropping & tail docking is banned here in the UK, I get so many people asking about her ears, the biggest one I get asked is it ok to touch her ears lol, some people are really fascinated by her ears, yet some people make vulgar comments, which normally tends to come from people who don't like bully breeds in general, but we are used to that after owning bull breeds for over 30 yrs now. @I.D-This I believe we should ask questions! So I'm fine if anyone does. Tail docking is harder for me to get behind because they just cut it off when they are super little and I can't unhear those poor little puppy cries. I have collected a lot of data that these dogs can get lots of tail injuries too from wagging them and them being so thick. They can bleed a lot, etc. Yes! Very true about the dirt lol. Another interesting thing to look at is communication, some argue they can't communicate as well to other dogs with part of their ears and tail missing. You almost have to wear a badge on him that says he is a rescue! I have a friend in the UK who has a cropped corso and some of the mean comments are crazy. Most people seem nice . At least there is some good reason for it but I do think it will eventually all go away. I will admit i really prefer the look too 🤷‍♀️

In this case the original Cane Corso standard from Italy from those that rescued the breed, not specifically from any current standard but close to AKC, FCI, ENCI.

Easier to get a male to ensure they get along. Some females have same sex aggression in the breed so you are taking a risk getting a female. They are often fine until they are not and you really don't know it's going to be okay until they're fully mature between 2 and 3 years old

The ears produce oil so the strips fall off on their own. If you pull them out it would hurt.

Yeah should be okay! May just take longer to fall off and if it's on a lot of hair you may need to cut it off the hair once it is loose.

Really depends on the dog, I tried to leave mine be but she would not rest and kept getting up to follow me. So I was definitely very involved which bothered lots of viewers! It takes forever so I would recommend not being as involved unless your female really needs you. First time delivering I don't blame them for wanting someone by their side 😌

We are just over an hour away from you, but the kennel we use is pretty close to you... Stonington Kennels. I drive an hour and a half there but they are really really good with the breed. Kennels are smaller than I'd like but the dogs do well there. If you want to drive out our way closer to Detroit area let me know and I'll send you our email.

All I know is they can breed together, there are coyote and wolf dog hybrids.
